Meet Amanda “fresh” Woodard of Houston

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda “fresh” Woodard.

Hi Amanda “fresh”, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I’ve always been known to have a niche for being naturally creative, whether it was artistically or poetically, although yes it did take a while for me to adjust into my own comfortability with expressing those talents outside of my leisure time to family, associates and social outlets.

It was after so many people began to express their belief into me constantly thru the years on how far I can go, firstly as a model.

I had A specific coach and I will forever remember her Coach Conroe.
so adamant about me becoming one that she told me every day that I can be a model for 2 years straight.
The catch I never told her that I wanted to become a model. Yeah I had the idea of wanting to be a model younger as a kid but I never told anyone that and the thought faded away, Years before meeting her.
But Mrs Conroe, She had indeed been planting and watering her subconscious seed on me
And thought of when considering into the lifestyle Amongst others.

Right before I became a model I was A sales representative for Kellogg’s snacks, before I ran my own route I was A vacation relief representative.
Again, just to give you, the idea of
I used to travel a lot with Kellogg’s, compliments from every state and city I traveled to.
Strangers expressing how blessed I am and how I looked like I just came out of the page of A magazine.
“ Their words, not mine.” or this one. “you should be doing more.”
I thought I was already “doing more”As A successful representative managing , winning awards from Kellogg’s the “rookie” running routes yet, I got tired of hearing people say things about me like that and it not be accurate
“the model lifestyle” so I started inquiring about it. Shortly after your girl Amanda on television, walking in runway shows, going to the go sees, competitions, commercial tv, modeling gigs. I had really became a paid model and to become a model the saying is so accurate about you needing to have alligator skin.
It wasn’t easy for me sometimes,
the stigma about being a certain color and weight was real deal, enough for me to have insincerities after I had my first child.

I had continued to get gigs after Id given birth, my child stayed in the Nicu for three months and when it was time for him to come home, I just didn’t feel comfortable in the model lifestyle anymore nor did I feel the same about myself overall. My son required me to have a lot of downtime.
Then that’s whenever my love for graphic design developed.
I started creating designs and logos just for fun to keep me creatively motivated. That lead me into making my own shirts, again just for fun then the fun turned into profit.
The originality in the pieces I created got better, the designs got better, and the time that it took me to create from scratch, became easier and faster and- people were willing to pay for it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh no, my dear none of my roads have been smooth, These roads were long and bumpy. And they consumed a lot of stop signs more than I would like, but just to get to where you need to be. Of course you’re gonna keep driving.

After becoming a mother, a lot of things started to challenge me in ways I never fathom mentally too.
I had to take therapy. Nothing against it, but I never sought out therapy as a outlet before and I been through some stuff for it to have been a possibility,
I had lost myself for a minute, along with numerous of very important people at the same time. I never lost myself to capacity that I had then,
I am and had always been a great nurturer but underneath I was numb. The journey in motherhood was different for me, for the first three years of my son‘s life we were at the doctor’s every other day. And not at the same clinics, it was a lot.
You’d always hear people reference postpartum,
how you change after child,
it was just that.
I didn’t have the belief in myself as much as I did for the belief that I had for my son being resilient and nurturing him. I had to find a balance, and I owe the credit to a lot of my peers along the way that kept realigning me with positivity, time, and, assurance.
I started to quickly regain my light and on a hot day much later I had passed out in my driveway randomly.
My mom found me. that’s when I fount out that I had brain tumor and it was growing .
I had to for sure have surgery for removal or go blind!
The headaches started to get scrutinizing. I didn’t want to sleep because I thought I was gonna die and not wanting my son to wake up with me, dead , I somehow mustard the strength from everyone around me when it came to being strong.
The prayers I felt. I really did feel the prayers covering me.
I looked at it as an opportunity to go harder because if I was gonna leave, I was gonna make sure I left a legacy. I left something behind that told a story, the story about me and one that would open doors for my generation to come.

Days before leaving for the surgery,
I did a photoshoot as a model and I submitted it for Artells magazine.
I booked the shoot right before surgery because I wanted to make sure I captured me in essence.
I was scared, I just didn’t know what was going to happen to me after opening my skull.
Needless I got the feature. And surgery was successful.
A little after arriving home
I was invited to the I got bars podcasts to spit some lyrics.
I wanna shout out Ashley the MC for showing love and Musiz geekz the photographer for the Artells magazine shoot All positive energy.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a non-AI produced, graphic designer, model, lyricist, supporter,

Fresh the graphic designer,
I am 2,000% passionate about creating the idea and image that you have in mind. It’s more of a delight for me. I’m pulling down something from a galactic mind state.
One reason why I don’t use
A.I., I know my creativity is better than A.I. plus,
I do not like the fact that A.I. is known for artificial intelligence now instead Allen Iverson,
I consume a lot of business from word-of-mouth, and my work range’s from motion flyers,
flyers that have logos that move with music in the background, still flyers, anything!
Currently my craft is being used to work on editing A podcast and music video.
personal work but it’s great work and soon to be shared on @Everythingfresh on YouTube.

Amanda the model,
I’ve been in the 8 magazines issues now, Shustring, Elle, Houston trend, Figgi, Artells, Quadro…
Television appearances as a model, runway New York fashion week, commercial print modeling.
It’s been fun.
As A kid I remember Looking into the Sunday papers, and
“women’s magazine” which was just a sales paper with dresses and women’s clothing.
laying on grannies bed. And A slight crack in the window just for light. She had a long hallway I would beg my siblings, and cousins to pretend with- like we were runway models.
Ha I only got that out of them a couple of times though.
Back then I never thought that my dream could be my future. I was just trying to stay afloat, now to today I have an acrylic painting of as a model art portrait in a hotel in Dallas Texas, an artistic piece
by Calvin Brockington.
I really am a real life muse,
fact that people call me up to work with me and wanna pay me as a model. Sometimes I still can’t believe that.

Fresh the artist
I have been writing songs since 13 And poetry since perhaps 8.
I didn’t know what I was doing.
I was just doing, and good at it. My Dad had a massive CD collection it was an abroad range naturally , I had an attraction to music my entire life,
I loved piecing words together like puzzles.
I submitted myself for a poetry book and An art book-when I was 8 and 11.. I never told my parents, but I got accepted for both so my art has been published since.
I’ve been an author at that age of 8. I’ve never really expressed that,
but I am proud of myself. I have more coincidences or right places at the right times. But I do have a lot of opportunities.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I would attribute much of my success to humility. I’ve learned that none of us achieves success entirely on our own. Life is much like a chain…we are individual links, each with our own purpose and strength, but our greatest impact comes from how we connect with and support one another. My blueprint.

Humility has taught me to recognize the value in every person, while also understanding the role I am called to play. When you understand who you are, you appreciate what others bring to the table, and recognize that every person contributes to something greater than self, you don’t have to constantly prove your worth. Your character, your work, and the way you treat people will speak for you. Even in silence.

For me, being humble means remaining grounded, teachable, and grateful while recognizing that success is rarely an individual accomplishment. I believe that understanding has allowed me to become an asset wherever I serve—not by trying to be the most important link in the chain, but by doing my part to make the entire chain stronger. Just being fresh.
