Today we’d like to introduce you to Blaine Ochoa.
Hi Blaine, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m a singer, songwriter and entrepreneur. I was also Miss Houston USA in 2019. I carried the title for two years and it will always be a proud chapter in my life. The years preparing and time spent during my reign held a lot of special moments and shaped me in many different ways. I also own a beauty and cosmetics company called Blaine Beauty. I carry a variety of products however my best seller would be my collection of lipglosses called ‘Blaine Gloss’. I’m currently working on expanding and placing the line in a variety of retail locations.
Recently I wrote and recorded the official theme song and jingle for a TV show called, “Hatching for Health – The Jessica Hatch Show”. The new season aired Saturday, September 5th on CW39 Houston. The talkshow sheds light on children with rare diseases and disabilities, and provides resources to families in need. I am honored to be a part of something that will help make an impact in people’s lives, and am looking forward to hearing the jingle live.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a wild ride…
There are some lessons that can only be learned in the valleys, and some things you only learn on the mountain top. You have to experience both in order to understand certain things and be able to become the person standing on the mountain top.
Another thing I’ve come to learn and understand is precision. God’s timing is so precise.
I’ve had to really practice letting go this year, and truly trusting in God’s timing. We try to stay in control, and want things to happen a certain way or at a certain time, but when we release the grip and allow things to fall into place as they should, there comes a certain peace that follows, and later on you see there’s a reason why certain things have to happen, and I’ve come to find that everything always works out better and more beautiful than I could’ve planned or imagined.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Releasing my debut single, “July” was a very proud moment. It’s a song that holds a lot of significance for me, and is a love song I originally wrote for someone very special. It reflects a beautiful experience in my life that completely changed me from the inside out. It tells of a love that forever rewrote my perspective of love, and showed me what true love feels like.
I had wanted to release my own music for a long time, and there was special meaning and intention behind why I released that song first. The song lyrics also contain metaphors, symbolism, and double meanings. Overall it is a piece of music that will forever carry a very profound meaning for me.
Ultimately, I want my music to be my legacy. I want to make music that transcends time. I want my voice to make a difference in the lives of others and touch people’s hearts. As a singer-songwriter I also have the opportunity to speak on behalf of people, and for people, who may not be able to express themselves, or know how to express certain feelings. Hopefully I can be that voice, one that breaks barriers, gives hope, and is a representation of love.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Courage is a powerful and important quality that is needed to be successful.
You have to have courage to be vulnerable, to be authentic, to be bold, to lead, to be an example, to love truly and fully, to believe in yourself, and to keep going.
