Check Out The Cornbread Boyz Levi Dry & Joe Weed’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to The Cornbread Boyz Levi Dry & Joe Weed.

The Cornbread Boyz, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
We didn’t come from studios or industry circles, we came from the East Texas dirt roads, small towns, and real life. We were making music independently, building reputations off authenticity, work ethic, and the kind of storytelling you only get from rural Texas. We were moving in the same circles, seeing the same struggles, and chasing the same dream from two different angles. Once we finally linked up, the chemistry was instant. We realized we weren’t just two artists we were two halves of the same identity. The Cornbread Boyz wasn’t a brand we invented; it was a name that naturally fit the lifestyle they were already living. Once we teamed up, everything accelerated. Our early collaborations started circulating through East Texas, then across the South. People connected with the raw mix of country sounds, Texas rap energy, and real‑life storytelling. We weren’t trying to fit into a genre, we were building our own lane. Shows got bigger. The fan base got louder. The Cornbread Boyz name started carrying weight. Other artists took notice. Our visuals, our sound, and identity, all sharpened at the same time.

Now we stand as one of the most recognizable independent duos in the Texas country‑rap space. We’ve built a movement, not just music, a brand rooted in Texas culture, loyalty, and the East Texas lifestyle. Our momentum is still climbing, our catalog is expanding, and The Cornbread Boyz identity is becoming stronger with every release. We didn’t get here through shortcuts. We got here through consistency, authenticity, and the kind of grind only Texas understands.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We both started with nothing but talent, a phone, and a dream. No industry backing. No big studio. No mentor pulling strings. Just two East Texas boys trying to make music in a place where nobody hands you opportunities. Coming out of rural Texas means fewer venues, fewer collaborators, fewer chances to get seen. We had to build everything from scratch, fan by fan, show by show, connection by connection.

Studio time costs money. Videos cost money. Promotion costs money. We were juggling real life jobs, bills, responsibilities while trying to create something bigger than ourselves. Nothing about it was convenient. Country‑rap is a niche. It’s not fully embraced by country fans or rap fans. We had to carve out a lane that didn’t exist yet aside from a few Country Rap Tunes from Texas, and that meant dealing with doubt, criticism, and people not understanding the vision.

The biggest struggle was staying locked in. When you’re independent, momentum doesn’t come naturally, you have to create it. We kept dropping music, kept improving, kept pushing even when the numbers were small and the support was quiet.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Joe Weed & Levi Dry are the creative force behind The Cornbread Boyz, we are a Texas-born country‑rap duo, blending rural country storytelling with a Texas hip‑hop style twist. We write, record, perform, and are building a full brand rooted in Texas Country culture from the back roads, small towns, real life, and real people.

We specialize in like Country‑rap fusion, its kind of a sound that mixes country melodies, Texas slang, and rap delivery. But we just call it our own.

Some would say we are known for:
– Joe Weed’s sharp, hungry delivery – the voice of the 903, raw and unapologetic, Yo’ Country Cuzzin.
– Levi Dry’s country‑bred tone – and raspy vocals that ties the music back to the land.
– Realness – no industry polish, no fake personas, no manufactured image.
– The single “Take Me Home” that features rising Waco, Texas artist Y.T. Amaya on the chorus, which landed on the iTunes Country Charts at #20 in the UK.

We are probably most proud about that we built everything “from the ground up”. No label. No machine. No shortcuts. Just two East Texas boys who turned our lifestyle into a brand and our brand into a movement.

The thing that sets us apart from others, is the part that really defines us. Authenticity, we don’t pretend to be country; we are country, we are Texas.

Garrett Kirk plays a huge role as lead guitarist in The Cornbread Boyz’ sound. Garrett is the guy who makes the music feel right. When we bring a story to the table, Garrett listens and immediately knows what kind of vibe the guitar needs, warm and nostalgic for the songs about home, rough and gritty for the ones about struggle. He understands our world and our style, and he knows how to make the guitar “talk” in a way that matches the emotion of the lyrics. That’s why he’s such an important part of the team. He helps turn our stories into something people can actually feel.

Orlando Willaims is a key figure of our production team as well, from Tyler, Texas. He is our go-to guy for all of our vocal production and the mastering production of our music. He is influential in helping blend the Texas country sound with the Texas hip-hop style & vibe to create our original style of “Country Rap Tunes – Pimp C”.

Can you share something surprising about yourself?
What surprises people the most is how hands‑on we are behind the scenes. Fans see the music, the brand, The Cornbread Boyz identity, but they don’t realize we personally build almost everything ourselves. We’re not just artists; we’re the writers, the planners, the visual thinkers, the brand architects, and the ones making sure every detail feels like East Texas and us.

Joe Weed’s hidden skill:
Most people don’t know Joe Weed is deeply involved in the creative direction, from concepts to visuals to storytelling. He’s not just rapping; he’s shaping the entire world around the music.

Levi Dry’s surprising strength:
Levi is the quiet backbone of the duo. He’s the one who keeps the tone grounded, the brand consistent, and the music tied to real Texas life. His ear for authenticity is a huge part of their sound, even though he doesn’t brag about it.
