B. , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Born in Ticonderoga, NY, & now in Glens Falls, NY where I started performing in middle school & high school choruses, I grew up studying the greats— the remarkable performances of the King of Pop Michael Jackson, channeling the grit of Eminem & 50 Cent. The soul of Marvin Gaye, the heart of 2Pac & DMX, the energy of Busta Rhymes & Wu-Tang Clan, and the visionary sound of Mike WiLL Made-It & many more. Inspiration csn come from many different places. The result? A sound that’s nostalgic and next-level, timeless and transcendent.
With over 130 songs from EPs, some full length projects, even some features with more music in the vault, each release is a portal into something deeper—pain, purpose, and prophecy.
B. Austin has earned the respect of industry insiders and fans alike, becoming a two-time Listen Up Award nominee and 2023 winner for Favorite Hip-Hop Artist.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Coming from upstate New York it very difficult to breakthrough an area that doesn’t appreciate Hip Hop acts the same as some Jam bands. Its just the area that we are in.
Learning how to promote and market is also a serious trial and error process with years of mistakes for a breakthrough.
Another thing is also putting yourself out there to the world you tend to deal with people that only wanna take advantage of you. Whether that be fall promises from executives or even scams from record labels or even people posing as record label executives.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a songwriter, emcee, rapper, engineer, performer. I am known for my performances and my music.
I am most proud of my impact which is still being developed and growing. But being able to reach the world and touch souls, hearts, and people all across different lands and countries throughout the world is truly remarkable.
What sets me apart is my work ethic to always want to learn from great individuals that came before me, to always wanna promote my work and my ability to not be afraid to put myself out there. Im not afraid to fail since I am coming from such a small town, my journey feels much harder compared to those in inter cities or with industry connections.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up I played 5 sports which included football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, then even track and field. I played even at a high level on vasoty teams even though I wasn’t all state. I am very out going, always smiling, mostly in a great mood. A very good kid that mostly stayed out of trouble, I did enjoyed partying but I tend to stay away from drugs especially hard drugs.
Personality wise very introverted, sometimes shy at first but not close to shy on stage or when im singing and dancing.
Internet wise, I’m B. Austin, the artist, part time comedian cuz I do show some funny skits on my socials. I mostly post my music and hardly ever my personality life. I am a human being and sometimes to like to show the emotional side of my life. But more times than not im only posting music content on the internet
