Life and Work with Duc Hoang

Today we’d like to introduce you to Duc Hoang.

Duc, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Two years ago, I decided to start my own food page after being inspired by a foodie from Japan. The photography side of it really intrigued me to join this platform and one of the biggest reasons why I decided to do this. I started to take off on my own and eventually gained a huge amount of following in Houston. After 1-2 months, I soon came to a realization that there is something missing. I noticed that there weren’t that many original content food bloggers in Houston. I felt as if the Instagram food community was lacking or nonexistence. I always see the same bloggers at food tasting event but no one really talks and there was no real connection. Then, I attempted to get everyone together by forming a small group within Instagram’s message. Eventually, we all got to know each other and became really good friends. The group has now capped at 30 food bloggers based in Houston and we help to promote local mom and pop restaurants.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have to admit, it’s not easy to post daily content while going to school and work at the same time. I feel like time management is very important. My advice for someone who is just starting out on their journey is to take everything step by step. Follow your guts and be open-minded. Make friends who are just passionate as you. Have a goal that you want to reach and work toward your goals. Lastly, love what you do because it shows.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Fooodeelicous – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I’m a food blogger and I’m known for taking great food pictures. I’m also known for my car videos, I would often do a video of myself eating in the car and reviewing the food. Moreover, I’m proud to be Zagat’s top 100 foodie accounts in the U.S last year. One thing that set me apart is that I’m friendly and easy to approach. I will take my time to reply back to all questions. I care about everyone opinions and I try to be the best content creator. I’m always striving to improve my work and showcasing everything that Houston has to offer.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
Growing up, my parents are very open-minded. This sort of help to put the pressure off my shoulders and that in term give me more confidence in myself.
