Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashleigh Rodriguez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Ashleigh. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I am obsessed with Bora Bora. I have my whole trip planned and I am just taking one photo at a time to get there. My journey as a photographer started when my first child was born in 2007. It’s hard to believe that was 10 years ago. I always enjoyed taking photos of friends when I was growing up, but having a child changed everything. Like most mom’s, I didn’t want to miss a moment; every smile, laugh, and crinkle of the nose was important. I took pride in being able to capture every moment. Then I had a friend who saw more in me than I saw in myself. She asked me to take her maternity photos for her. Afterwards, other people saw her photos and started asking me to take their photos. I took it and ran with it. I started learning everything I could, taking workshops and classes. It became my new obsession so my TV junkie personality had to take a back seat. If I’m honest though, I am still a little addicted to Netflix and Hulu when I edit. My favorites are Grey’s Anatomy, This is Us, and the whole Chicago series. However, more than anything, I am in love with God and I am extremely thankful. He has given me this talent to bless others with. I never thought I could create art for a living.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
As in any business, there are up and downs. Being in a creative business, you’re putting yourself out there and putting your art out there. Art being subjective, you have to deal with people loving you and not loving you. It is very emotional, but God has me. I know not everyone is my client, but I am blessed by the clients I have. They become friends and family. I love watching my brides and grooms start families and love watching them grow.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Ashleigh Rodriguez Photography – what should we know?
My business is Ashleigh Rodriguez Photography. I hire out help for a few things, but mainly, it’s a one woman show; one woman who loves photography and the Texans!! I was honored to photograph a Texans Cheerleader and it’s on my bucket list to photograph other Texans Players’ and their families!
I specialize in photographing weddings, families and stylized children’s sessions. Most people fall in love with my photography, but with photography, it’s about connection and capturing a person’s real self. Essentially, you’re making connections with people. My clients and I become friends and they trust me. When you have a connection with someone you are more comfortable around them and you loosen up. Great photographs happen when you’re having fun. I specialize in fun moments. We have fun and I just capture it all. We start with an idea and then it’s a blend of your desires and our services. We will design the perfect session around your outfit and location choices. We then hand retouch all of your images and bring you back to the studio for your portrait reveal. After selecting the perfect products for your home, we come to your residence and install them free of charge. We take all the work out of the process and you are left with beautiful artwork hanging on your walls.
My wedding couples are especially dear to my heart. They are a ministry that I strongly believe in, I don’t want to just photograph their wedding. I want to make sure their marriage succeeds. I don’t want any repeat clients unless it’s family sessions after! I think that is what sets me apart from others. I truly care about my clients. I consider them friends and they can come to me for help, advice and even prayers.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
My husband is my biggest supporter. I couldn’t do it without him. He has encouraged me every step of the way. Every moment I wanted to throw in the towel, he wouldn’t let me. He is an amazing dad to our kids, and he goes above and beyond when I’m working or out of town. I also have a full team of photographers around me who pick me up and lend an ear when I need someone. Without Allison, Kassi, and Jessi, I think I would’ve quit a long time ago. My clients deserve most of the credit, without them I couldn’t do what I do. My clients believe in me, encourage me, and trust me with the most important milestones of their lives.

Ashleigh is amazing! Her captures are so good. I recently published my first two books in a devotional series and used some of her captures. She has a heart as big as Texas and is a great person. You will not be disappointed in her work. So happy for all her continued success.

She is amazing!!! Her work is fabulous! Beautiful and very talented woman. I feel so comfortable with her, super easy to make a connection with and yes I feel that is very important when finding a photographer for the biggest events in your life like your wedding!
