Today we’d like to introduce you to Mark Hahn and Dan Hunt.
Houston Precision Fasteners was established in 2001 by Dan as a short run, quick turn manufacturer of high strength, close tolerance aerospace fasteners and small machine parts. Dan started the company out of his house in Houston that has now grown into the self-sufficient facility over 30,000 sqft. In 2004 Dan was joined in ownership by Mark J. Hahn. Dan and Mark had been close friends since 1990 and had talked for many years about joining forces in the aerospace manufacturing market. Mark had been a customer of Dan’s previously and then again with Houston Precision Fasteners. The relationship thrived and provided the right mix of friendship, experience and knowledge to grow HPF.
Over the years Houston Precision Fasteners has responsibly reinvested profits to grow and expand to approximately 80 employees. The dedication of owners and support of the many great men and women at HPF have earned them numerous awards and recognition including NASA’s Small Business Subcontractor of the Year, Boeing Gold Supplier and Boeing Advocacy Award for efforts in lobbying for the great state of Texas in Washington DC. Mark and Dan have also pushed through HPF to be involved with supporting local sports teams, veterans with hiring and yearly Christmas package donations and donating to Wounded Warrior Foundation to name a few.
Houston Precision Fasteners is a major supplier to many incredible programs including Orion, Space Launch System, F/A-18, F-35 and 777X to name a few.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Over the years there have been many struggles HPF has faced including changes in the economy, pricing fluctuation of oil and hiring when battling against the largest companies in the oil, gas and energy sectors. HPF has been fortunate to get through the many issues over the years by keeping a positive attitude along with clear and conscience decision making.

HPF strives to be transparent and honest in all they do and that has helped to make Houston Precision Fasteners a well known name.
HPF is incredibly proud of the many successes earned through dedication and hard work to support many of the worlds top programs working with OEM’s such as Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Bombardier, Orbital ATK, Northrop Grumman, Gulfstream Aerospace, Arcata Associates, Bell Helicopter and many other aerospace distributors.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
If Houston Precision Fasteners had to start over I believe the only thing that would be done differently would be to take the time to enjoy the many successes that took place in the first few years. HPF was so eager to grow that some huge accomplishments were simply overlooked for the great effort and time it took to earn them.
Current state when situations present themselves with recognition or awards HPF takes the time to recognize them and the people responsible at the quarterly all-hands meetings.
