Meet Presly Carr and Natalie Duzich of Dirty Little Growers

Today we’d like to introduce you to Presly Carr and Natalie Duzich.

It all started in 2010 after Natalie took a trip to L.A. where she was introduced to an array of beautiful succulents. At the time succulents were not as common around Houston.

Natalie introduced Presly and the growing process began. Fast forward to 2017, they had an abundance of little growers. Giving them the idea of getting down and dirty and start sharing their love for the plants and beautifying their city.

They jumped right into Urban Harvest Eastside Farmers Market. This is the market that allowed them to meet fellow creative Houstonian’s who welcomed them into the market scene with open arms. They were blessed to have met others here in the city who share the same vision as they do for Houston.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has been challenging turning our hobby into a small business while working full-time jobs. We have been fortunate to have met other local small business owners through Urban Harvest Farmers Market who have helped and supported us along this journey. We are always learning and finding new and creative ways to continue with this venture. Not only have we had to learn about starting a small business, but also learning about our own personal strengths and weaknesses.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Dirty Little Growers story. Tell us more about the business.
We are Dirty Little Growers who sell tiny plants in tiny containers. We specialize in succulents, cactus, and vines. We are most proud of our plants and helping others find joy in them too. We grow all of our own plants through various ways of propagation. You are going to get locally grown and locally owned by us.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck goes both ways with us! Bad luck includes but is not limited to: crazy weather specifically freezes, floods, and extreme heat. Good luck in meeting all of the like-minded people who have been supportive of this venture and helped us to grow.

Pricing:

  • Small containers range from $10-$15
  • Arrangements range from $20.00+
