Today we’d like to introduce you to Neeli Sharrett.
Neeli, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m the owner/designer of tweet & peep jewelry. I’m a wife, mom, daughter, sister, and friend who stays busy all the time. I officially started tweet & peep in April 2017 and named my biz after my daughter who’s nickname is Tweetie and my niece who’s nickname is Peepers. My hubby and I have been married for 13 years & together for over 20 years. Our daughter is 9 and son is 5. Both kids are very active in sports and keep us quite busy! I work full time in clinical research where I’m responsible for implementing technology for my company to help automate processes and improve efficiencies. I’ve worked in the clinical research area for over 14 years and love that we help pharma companies get medicine to market to help people in need. I’m also co-chair for our mom’s coop in my neighborhood where we fundraise for our local schools & charities while coordinating fun activities for our kids. Born & raised in Houston, TX. I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a Biology degree! Here are a few personal things about me:
* I enjoy running (I know strange right?)
* I’m obsessed with camp gladiator
* I love 90s rap music, coffee, and beer!
Jewelry making consumes my time after the kids are asleep, but I’m obsessed with it! My jewelry is handcrafted with natural materials such as leather, metals, glass, wood, and gold accents. It’s casual & eclectic with a touch of boho-chic. I enjoy showcasing my jewelry at markets & pop-ups and especially love meeting new people and other makers!! Check out my website where my collection is available as well as updates on my upcoming events. Subscribe to stay updated!!! THANK YOU for your support and for following me along on this wild & crazy journey!!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
My biggest challenge is growing my business. It’s difficult to find time with my busy schedule to work markets on the weekends, post on social media often, gain more followers, and remain connected/focus on my family and day job. I try to limit the number of shows I participate in per month in order to support my children’s activities. I’ve learned to try new markets in order to meet new customers but also meet other makers. It’s great meeting other makers and most have been great on offering advice and extending opportunities to me.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into tweet & peep jewelry story. Tell us more about the business.
My handcrafted jewelry is made with natural materials such as leather, brass, gold, glass beads, and wood. I love pairing these natural materials in unique ways with the perfect pop of color. Whether it’s a necklace, bracelet, or earrings, my jewelry is a good fit for casual wear, that extra piece for business casual, or the perfect pair for your favorite sports team (Let’s Go Astros). I can customize any style in almost any color! I’m super excited to see repeat customers at pop-ups and see my jewelry out & about in the Houston area. I’m grateful to the supporters of my small business and so thankful to meet new customers & friends.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
To be honest, I’m not a big reader. Currently, I’m reading 2 books by Justina Blakeney – The New Bohemians Cool & Collected Homes and The New Bohemians Handbook Come Home to Good Vibes.
My favorite podcast is Fridays with FleaStyle. Check it out!
