Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Holmes.
Chris, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I believe I have an underdog storyline. Being born in Huntsville, TX it’s a nice small town where most of the community knows each other. At the same time, there are challenges with this being known as a prison town and the mentality around the area thinking that success is just by working through the prison system. I know there are opportunities that are beyond just that. I wrote my first manuscript while a senior in high school expressing myself through poetry.
Taking my own life experiences and the experiences of others so that other peoples lives are told through art. My first book was “100 Testimonies of A Young Soul” This was most likely the start of my entrepreneurship path. Everyone has a purpose and talent it’s up to the individual on how they use them. From there I started my college years at Sam Houston State University. Very diverse allowing me to see different cultures, religions, beliefs, backgrounds, and more to help me become more open-minded.
My freshman year I picked up my first camera by helping my good friend at the time. I had no interest in any kind of production at the time. After a few snaps and being told I can take some nice snaps that were the beginning of everything. Funny thing is I got the cheapest camera at Wal-Mart thinking I was a pro. We all got to start somewhere. From there I got my first DSLR and went into photography through college.
Mostly a hobby as I wrote two other books “Just Another Black Voice” and “Steps To Manhood.” Both titles are motivational poetry books. I have a very strong drive to overcome odds and I had 3 books out before I turned 25.
Along the way, I helped out with projects with other organizations on stage plays and more at the university. That boosted creativity. By the time I finished college I had four books published, had multiple book signings, interviewed by local radio stations including the college media. As soon as I graduated it was time to step into the city to be challenged to grow. Currently, I provide a lot of production services for the Houston market. Photography, videography, animation, audio and more. While building a team as well.
I’m involved with Rotary and have a podcast called “Next Level Thinking” on iTunes, where I interview inspiring people around the world. One popular face I interviewed in Houston is Irvin Randle. Which is also known as Mr. Steal Your Grandma when he went viral. Speaking in front of events and teaching on the usage of social media is what I enjoy as well. Inspiring others to be the best version of themselves.
Another Houston accomplishment is I was interviewed on Urban Houston Network KHLM as well as covered the February issue of UBAWA Magazine! Houston is where I do most of my business now. I look forward to what life has in store for me next.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Nothing that is good in life is ever easy. Of course, I have had my struggles. From financial situations, stereotypes, people not believing or understanding my vision, criticism, fear and more. We all have those obstacles to overcome.
What matters most is how you handle those, what your next move and will you allow those things to stop you from your own destiny.

What were you like growing up?
I was mostly shy, quiet, strong interest in video games and playing sports. A lot of my creativity started from there thinking of different ideas while I had time to myself. Of course, I am more talkative now.
