So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
As a hairstylist, it all began with Barbie dolls and my awesome little sister was my walking, talking mannequin. I began expirementing with hair at the age of 9 burning plenty of curling irons with synthetic Barbie doll hair! Cosmetology was always an artistic outlet for me growing up, it was a natural gift and blessing. Also, after practicing for many years on friends and family, I began to peruse cosmetology at the age of 19, graduating from Roebuck Beauty School in Birmingham, AL. Furthermore, becoming a professional cosmetologist the door to the beauty industry opened tremendously affording me the opportunity to work with various organizations and celebrity hairstylist who have a major impact on the beauty industry. After learning various new things from the industry, I began to peruse making wigs which I made my first unit for the Encrypted Elements first annual fashion show in Birmingham, AL. This is how Mirra Mirra Hair custom wig unit journey began. Ever since that moment I began to specialize in transforming lives through healthy hair, education, and the love of hair!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Pursuing hair was never easy but the love for the art of Beauty brought me through. Once I began to focus on cosmetology, trials and tribulations arose going through school. I was a single parent and homeless but the love of hair brought me through! This inspired me to use hairstyling as a platform to help others through ministry and resources for those who may have similar struggles and trials. Hair was always an inspiration to enhance one’s beauty while enriching one’s spirit during the transformation of the hairstyling process. Hair challenges me every day to renew my spirit and always operate in the spirit of peace, love, and joy!

As a cosmetologist, I specialize in healthy hair, custom wig units, braiding, natural hair, premium virgin hair, and color. As Mirra Mirra Hair, I’m most proud of the clientele that represents my brand being blessed by multiple customers from every walk of life non-discriminatory atmosphere! Finding a mentor and building a network are often cited in studies as a major factor impacting one’s success. Do you have any advice or lessons to share regarding finding a mentor or networking in general?
Being active and involved in various groups, events, and maintaining a great business relationship with peers in the industry. Always being open and ready to be educated knowing that knowledge is ongoing and becoming a student will always bring much growth and success! Nevertheless, maintaining a humble spirit will keep you grounded amongst everything.
