Today we’d like to introduce you to Ethan Luckett.
Ethan, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
To be honest, I had always been drawn to fitness at an early age. I started picking up athletic training thanks to my college roommate and luckily it’s a habit I’ve kept since then. I started riding at Revolution Studio in 2012 when I met the owner Kim Syma in passing. At that time, I knew I wanted to rock the podium and teach, but wasn’t quite sure I was ready yet. In 2017, I stepped out on faith and auditioned with Revolution and it’s been an amazing experience ever since.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It hasn’t. I actually almost ended up with a different studio, but due to health reasons, chose to stay in Houston. The fitness market is very competitive, so when I first started teaching, I was constantly compared to other instructors and always felt that my race and choice of music kept me from filling classes. One of the most valuable lessons I’ve learned is to be myself…and I think that’s what my riders appreciate about me the most.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Revolution Studio – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am an indoor cycling instructor. I’m very proud of my ability to connect with others and create a space of inclusion where people of all ages, sexes, believes can come into a room and share one thing: a desire for a healthier lifestyle.
I think what sets me apart from others is that I’m very transparent in who I am and what I stand for. I’ve never tried to be someone that I’m not… and even when I’ve tried to be anything other than that, my support system calls me out on that.
The crop tops, trap music and unadulterated vulnerability shapes who I am. My faith also drives a lot of what I do and how I teach as well.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My plans for the future are to dive deeper into personal goals… possibly a not for profit. There are also so many opportunities to help our youth with their health and fitness goals, and I would love to see myself serving for that initiative. I also want to become a Personal Trainer.
