Today we’d like to introduce you to Yari Pujols.
Yari, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
This is a funny question for me because I’m constantly restarting. It first began when I was working at a family-owned furniture store here in Houston. It was my first opportunity out of college since I still wasn’t sure where I wanted to end up. Starting in sales, lead me to other opportunities the longer I worked and over 1.5 years of being there, I asked if they needed help anywhere else. That’s when I started all over again learning graphic design and for the next year in a half, I used that opportunity to improve my skills. Everything was going well until I realized I hit a plateau which leads me to restart again. I wanted something new and I had heard about real estate in college and decided to make the leap and get my license which would become the next three years of my life. Struggling to figure out my real estate business and learning as much as I could. Although I still currently do some real estate, I decided to get my personal training certificate in 2016. This was because I was always into fitness and living a healthy lifestyle and it was the natural thing for me to do. In my life, there was never a start, but in many ways I could reset, gain new skills and continue to create a life I’m proud of.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
If I said there were no struggles, I’d be lying. Of course, each step I took lead to an obstacle I had to work through. If I had to give someone advice it would be to keep persisting, it will never be easy nor is it too late to create an opportunity for yourself.
We’d love to hear more about yarpulo.
I work in a variety of service industries. I believe in creating a life that works for you, so every opportunity that allows me to do what I enjoy I can’t pass up. Firstly, is my brand on Instagram was known as Yarpulo, is a fitness lifestyle brand. I work hard curating content for my audience which is ever changing. It a fun project for me and also allow me to learn new things to improve my skills. With fitness, I’m currently not training but in more of a learning state. I feel like in order to provide value to my clients I need to grow as a trainer. What I have created as a trainer is a running group that meets every Tuesday called @Runtuesdays. It was the best way to get a community of people that needed that accountability to show up every week. Real Estate has just been a blessing in all types of ways and the connections I’ve made. Lastly, I’ve been helping a friend grow her business, and there’s always something new to learn and overcome. My design skills and work ethic has helped in so many ways.
What’s the most important piece of advice you could give to a young woman just starting her career?
Be open to whatever presents itself to you, learn, learn, learn as much as you can, be confident in who you, be brave in the unknown, and trust that the journey you are on is an adventure.
