Meet Cody Barta of Texas Auto Cowboys in Oak Forest

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cody Barta.

Cody, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’ve always been interested in anything with a motor and wheels. From learning how to drive sitting on my parent’s lap or driving the farm truck around our land in Schulenburg, TX. Maybe, it was when my older sister got her first vehicle for her 16th birthday. It was a 1970 Chevrolet C-10 with a 350 big block, 4 barrel carburetor, original interior, original wood planked short bed step-side and finished up with a bright red color on the exterior. Whatever it was, it gets me up every morning wanting more.

I Started Texas Auto Cowboys in October of 2017. It was briefly after hurricane Harvey and I was managing a shop for a corporation that has a few locations here in Houston, Much like most corporations, they seemed to be more concerned with their needs rather than its employees. So, with many years and many different titles. I said so long to the corporate world and went into business for myself. With every new venture, I have observed and learned from each one the pros & cons of business and customer service. When I started this business, I wanted to make sure that the customer was our #1 priority. Without you guys, none of this would even be possible.

Since then, we have grown into a business that is mobile so we can come to your location for your connivance to take care of your vehicle, or we do have a garage so that clients can drop off their vehicle and get back to their busy schedules. We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Not at all. When you go into business for yourself you become every department of a company. Never in my life would I think I would learn about marketing or website design. I believe one of the biggest struggles in my experience is getting clients to leave feedback & brand awareness. Just getting out there shaking hands and meeting people will help a lot.

What were you like growing up?
I was just your average all American kid, except with a few more scoops of sugar in his ice cream bowl. I was always playing sports or playing outside. Anything to burn energy off before bedtime. As I got older, I got more into music, which is still important to me today. If I had the time, I would love to get back into it. I played drums in a garage band when I attended Waltrip High School. After that, I played guitar and sang at a few cafes and dive bars over the years. No matter what though I was always led back to the garage whether it be a friend’s car had broken down or my mom’s car needed to be washed.
