Meet Behemoth CrossFit in Katy and Cypress area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aja Barto.

Aja, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
We opened our doors in 2012 with the goals and desires to help teach, coach and educate the masses on how to improve their quality of life through lifestyle changes and CrossFit. Through our incessant approach to learning and evolving with the health and fitness industry today, it has been our sole mission to help improve the lives of every willing individual we touch.

Over the course of time, we’ve been able to build a remarkable community of individuals that dare to be greater than average. As we know, average in today’s world is sick, diseased, sedentary, lazy and un-motivated. With that in mind, we desire to create a culture within our gym that is the furthest thing away from “normal”.

Whether our folks are in the gym or out, each member that makes up our community has no problem tearing themselves from their comfort zone. Character is built and tested inside of our walls, but it doesn’t just stop there. Our members have learned that all good things come with a little discomfort and that in order to be the best version of themselves day in and day out, they must consistently challenge and push their own limitations with their every thought, word and action.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Like any small business, it has been no easy road building Behemoth to where it is but even with its ups and downs it’s been quite an enjoyable journey. We have an amazing support crew in our corner with family, friends and our world class community that has supported us and trusted in our abilities since day one. We are forever so grateful for each of their continued support.

Road bumps, obstacles and failures are all part of the process. I’d be lying if I said we didn’t encounter them on a routinely basis. However, what I feel is most important when those times do come up is how we respond and how we devise a solution to get back on our feet and fix the issue at hand. I believe we’ve done a good job with this. Constantly self-reflecting, accepting constructivism and keeping communication open and transparent within our staff and community.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Behemoth CrossFit story. Tell us more about the business.
We work hard to educate our community on the right individualized options and tools necessary to optimize quality of life based on our own self-experimentation and that of which we’ve tested and seen effective with those around us.

Like I mentioned above, we strive to create a culture that is above average at Behemoth. We teach, we coach, we educate, we empower and most importantly we care to see and help make change in those willing and able individuals that seek us out.

We truly care about helping people and we’re very passionate about it. Seriously. Its what we feel like we were put on this earth to do and its what lights our fire. We are on a life-long mission to help willing and able human beings tap untapped potential. We feel like anyone can accomplish anything with our guidance, so long they know what they want, why they want it and have the hunger to make the change that is necessary to do so.

We are not your average “gym” because from the definition above, average doesn’t equate to excellence. Whether we are or we aren’t, we know for a fact we strive for it. You need not be fit or un-fit to join our facility or to do CrossFit by any means. There is no age limitation or fitness requirement. All you need is a willingness to pull yourself from your cozy, little comfort zone and do something extraordinary that will elicit the change you seek.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck, for us, has meant opportunity.

Along this journey, we’ve met the right people at the right time that have helped us take huge steps within our business. We’ve been lucky enough to encounter these people, whom are now business partners and long-time members but most importantly people we’ve developed life-long friendships and relationships with.

Whether we call it luck or opportunity, we’re just extremely grateful for everything we’ve been able to be a part of so far. Whether it’s been a positive, negative, success or failure, its shaped us into the business we are today with no regrets. We wouldn’t have done it any other way!
