Today we’d like to introduce you to Eva Tuyen.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Eva. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Growing up, I have always been artistic. It all started with a paper and pencil and just went from there. Throughout high school and college, I always found myself sketching and rendering. It could be a still object, something from my imagination or reference. Anything and everything I came across. The one thing that remained consistent was drawing the face, more specifically the eye region. My mom always told me I was born to be an artist and I always just answered, “sure yeah, haha” but fast forward a few years and here I am, after graduating from college with an Art BA and Advertising minor, just doing what I have been doing my whole life, only my lovely clients are my canvas.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
When a new chapter opens up for anyone, it will never be easy – at first. Trial and errors are a great way to grow and learn as a business owner for any field. When I first started, I was definitely questioning if I had chosen the right route, asking myself am I worth it, will people book me? or love my work? Can I make living off this and build my reputation in this field – so many second-guessing questions towards myself. the ball starts slow, but once it starts rolling, it’s a blessing. And with practice and great work leaving the studio, the world is in your hands.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Brows by Eva – what should we know?
I am the owner of Brows by Eva. We specialize in permanent makeup, concentrating on microblading and powder brows (also known as ombre brows). Microblading is a form of art, attention to detail and making sure everything mends and blends with each other is priority, when people come in for microblading, they don’t want it to be an obvious thing, our microblade strokes have been designed to blend in with the client’s natural hair growth and leave with their dream brows. I feel very blessed that I have an artistic eye to notice these things and being able to bring it to the table.
Do you feel like there was something about the experiences you had growing up that played an outsized role in setting you up for success later in life?
Yes, I was about seven years old when I started coloring and drawing, and my mom immediately noticed I was a little artist my whole life. My mom has always called that this little gift that I was born with, will guide me through my future.
