Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Moseley.
Carlos, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I have lived in Texas for more than 30 years, and have been a resident of the Texas Hill Country since 1989. I live on a ranch nestled in oak trees touching the spring-fed Pedernales River in Gillespie County, just outside of Fredericksburg, Texas.
I have always had a passion for nature, photography, kayaking, gourmet cooking, and music…. all of which led me to the unique discovery of a new art form. Years of collecting special stones and rocks developed into extraordinary artistic rock designs. An interesting process is used to collect native, local stones and rocks with a procedure that does not disturb the environment…..all of my work is above ground. Some of the Flintstones were used by early native Apache and Comanche Indians who lived in the area. I focus on the artistic inspirations formed from the art studio by rocks, stones, and pebbles that are waiting to be discovered.
I have a real love affair with my fine rock art characters and admit that I have a reluctance to let them go.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I use a unique process to collect native stones and rocks with a procedure that does not disturb the environment…all my work is above ground. Stones are used to creating unique natural rock art that is nature’s gift. Flint, fossils, river rock and pebbles found along the banks of rivers and stream beds are used. Each piece of artwork is original as I use special adhesives to transform rock color pallets to the canvas of stone, driftwood, slate or wood.
Has your art been affected by issues you’ve concerned about?
Yes, but my art is unique, and each piece is an original, so I have done well for 14 years.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I exhibit my art at fine art shows throughout Texas, Florida, New Mexico, Colorado, Arizona, Alabama, and Wyoming.
I am represented by Artisan’s – A Texas Gallery in Fredericksburg, Texas and Copper Shade Tree in Round Top, Texas.
I also sell my work online at www.carlosmoseley.com.
