Thanks for sharing your story with us Darci. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I have been a hairstylist for a little over 13 years. During that time I owned my own salon in Myrtle Beach, SC for seven years and then moved to Westminster, CO where I had my own salon for two years. In June of 2017, my husband and I relocated to League City, Texas where I started my current salon, Modern Curls and Cuts. Located in Webster, it bridges the gap for people who live in South Houston and have no desire to face that downtown traffic.
Has it been a smooth road?
Other than the relocating and having to start over each time with new clientele, it has been pretty smooth. The good news is we really love it here and have no plans to move again anytime soon.

For the last 3 ½ years, I have been specializing in Devacurl Devacuts for natural curly hair. What sets this haircut apart from other haircuts is the technique. Instead of the typical salon experience of washing the hair and cutting it while it’s wet or worse yet washing, drying, flat ironing and then cutting it, I actually cut the hair dry curl by curl. Dry cutting allows me to see the curls in real time in their natural state resulting in the natural curl being enhanced with proper weight distribution, which eliminates the dreaded triangle haircut!
I enjoyed being a hairstylist before I started specializing in curls, but now there is nothing I enjoy more. Introducing someone to their curls for the first time is an experience like no other. Along with the dry Devacut comes education. I spend a lot of time educating my clients about hydration, proper product application, and how to reach their true curl potential.
When you come to my salon, you receive way more than just a service. You receive an experience. I provide a relaxing, quiet atmosphere where, from start to finish, the focus will always be on you and your curls.
