Amy Rivera shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Amy, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Who are you learning from right now?
We have been taking a lot of inspiration from a content creator named Lauren! She is better known as @loverboards on tiktok but she is an amazing creator and has taught us a lot about set up, design, pairings, and content creation.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Amy Rivera, and I am the charcuterie artist here at Charcutehtx. My mother and sister help me manage this passion project of mine to provide charcuterie boards, sandwiches, and table grazes to the greater Houston area. Our goal is to help our clients achieve their vision for their event through beautiful food. We work with all kinds of cheeses, colors, and themes to help make this happen!
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My parents are the hardest-working people I know, and my mother continues to teach me every day as we navigate growing our small business. They taught me to be intentional and take pride in everything I do. They have instilled in me the drive to perform to the best of my abilities, no matter the task. Work is work. No one is above it, and there is no shame in doing a good job.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have definitely been moments when I wanted to hang up my apron and silently delete our Instagram page. I remember when we first started, we went the entire summer without a single order or inquiry, and I regretted investing so much so soon. I had to remind myself that this is a hobby and passion of mine first before it was ever a business. I don’t see myself giving this up anytime soon, and we are very grateful to have faithful clients who continue to support us!
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whose ideas do you rely on most that aren’t your own?
My sister! She has a very creative eye and plays a massive part in our marketing and social media presence. I can always count on her to help me create new posts, reels, and TikTok’s as a way to engage our audience and showcase what we have to offer. Content creation is a lot harder than it looks, and it helps a lot to have someone as talented as her to bounce ideas off of.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
With our name being Charcutehtx, we refer to our clients as our beloved ‘cuties’. I want to say they would miss our pairings the most! We dedicate a lot of time to sourcing new cheeses and meats and finding the perfect combinations to introduce to our cuties. I would also hope that they would miss our designs as well. We work really hard to make sure each design is not only one of a kind but visually striking as well.
