We recently had the chance to connect with Kesha Sonny and have shared our conversation below.
Kesha, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, I’m learning from my younger self. To make sure I’m taking a new path not chosen by often. To grow outside of my comfort zone, and explore new areas mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. My younger self has shown me that if I don’t take the risk, I may not receive the reward that I’m truly hoping for. That it’s okay to take a leap of faith for the sake of myself.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Kesha! I’m the owner of Brow’d Babe LLC, where I specialize in PMU brows and tattoos that bring out natural beauty and confidence. I’m passionate about creating a comfortable experience for my clients while delivering results that feel both flawless and personal. I bring artistry and creativity into each service, which makes my work stand out instead of a “one size fits all” look. Outside of my work, I love enjoying life’s little luxuries, good vibes, and creative expression. I also recently graduated with my Masters in Criminal Justice, and currently working on my Masters in Intelligence Studies.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Before the world told me who I needed to be… I was free. I was curious, unafraid to explore the things that made me happy. My dreams were bigger, and I didn’t second-guess the way I showed up in people’s point of view. I created just to create, not to be judged or validated. I trusted my own rhythm, my own desires, my own voice. I was whole without needing permission, already enough without the layers of expectation. Even today, that version of me still lives— reminding me that I am still her.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me the language of rock bottom. It showed me the weight of silence, the loneliness of broken pieces, and the fear of not knowing if I’d rise again. But in that darkness, I discovered strength I didn’t know I had. Rock bottom stripped me of the masks, the expectations, and the illusions of control. It forced me to rebuild with only what truly mattered—faith, resilience, and self-belief. Success never taught me how to crawl, how to start again with nothing but hope.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
I don’t put on a mask for the world—I show up as myself. The way I laugh, the way I love, the way I work, the way I create—it’s all me. What you see is a reflection of who I truly am. Of course, some parts of me are private, sacred, and kept for those closest to me, but the core doesn’t change. My public self and my private self are aligned, and that’s the freedom I’ve fought for: to live as my whole, authentic self without apology.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely , because I’m not doing it for claps or compliments. I’m doing it for me. I know the effort I put in, and that’s what matters. The results, the growth, the pride—it’s mine whether anybody notices or not.
