We’re looking forward to introducing you to Lolita Guarin. Check out our conversation below.
Lolita, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I absolutely love dancing! I took ballroom classes for a year and still enjoy spending weekends out Latin dancing. Over time I’ve learned so many styles—even tango and foxtrot. I even had the chance to dance with Dancing with the Stars star Val Chmerkovskiy! But I’ll admit—the two-step just never grew on me.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a stress management expert, coach, speaker, and five-time Amazon #1 bestselling author. I help busy professionals manage stress, prevent burnout, and reclaim their energy without relying on medication. I’m the founder of Be Amazing You and the creator of the CALM Process, a simple but powerful method I developed after my own health collapsed from stress and I ended up in the emergency room. That was my turning point.
Instead of masking the symptoms with medication, I made a promise to myself to find natural, lasting solutions. I explored countless stress relief techniques—everything from breathing practices and journaling to energy work and lifestyle changes—until I found what truly worked. Along the way, I also faced and began to heal the deeper patterns from my childhood as the adult child of an alcoholic, realizing how much unresolved trauma had shaped the way I responded to stress.
This journey taught me that stress isn’t just about the workload in front of us—it’s about the old stories we carry, the boundaries we don’t set, and the way we forget to care for ourselves. That’s why my CALM Process was born: it’s a practical, four-step method that helps people not only survive stress but use it as a tool for growth and resilience.
What makes my work unique is that I don’t just share theory—I live it. I know what it feels like to hit rock bottom from stress, and I also know the freedom that comes from taking back your power and energy. My newest book, The CALM Process: Four Simple Steps to Break Free from Stress and Reclaim Your Life, and its companion workbook, walk readers step by step through learning how to navigate any stressful situation with clarity, confidence, and calm. Today, I continue to coach, speak, and teach—because no one should have to wait until an emergency to learn how to truly live stress-free.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child, I believed that I had to be perfect, work hard, and always take care of others in order to be loved and accepted. Growing up as the daughter of an alcoholic, I thought my value came from keeping the peace and proving myself. That belief led me into adulthood constantly stressed, burned out, and feeling like nothing I did was ever enough. Today, I no longer carry that. I’ve learned through my own healing and my CALM Process that my worth isn’t tied to perfection or performance—I am valuable just as I am. That shift has freed me to live with more calm, energy, and self-acceptance, and it’s the same freedom I now help my clients discover.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would tell my younger self, ‘You don’t have to carry the weight of the world on your shoulders. You are already enough, exactly as you are. Life isn’t about proving yourself or keeping everyone else happy—it’s about trusting yourself, embracing your own path, and knowing that you are deeply loved.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I think a lot of smart, successful people are getting it wrong by treating stress like a badge of honor. They believe being ‘busy’ and running on burnout means they’re important, productive, or needed. In reality, it’s costing them their health, relationships, and joy. True success doesn’t come from pushing harder—it comes from learning how to manage stress, set boundaries, and protect your energy.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Yes, absolutely. When I first came to the U.S., I believed that working in a corporate environment and building that ‘successful’ career would make me happy. I chased the titles, the busyness, and the external validation—but it never truly satisfied me. Instead, it left me stressed, burned out, and disconnected from myself. That experience was a turning point—it showed me that real fulfillment doesn’t come from climbing the corporate ladder, but from creating a life of balance, purpose, and calm. That realization is what led me to the work I do now.
