We recently had the chance to connect with Samuel Mallett and have shared our conversation below.
Samuel, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I wake in the morning and the first thing I do is pray and give thanks to god and thanking him for waking me then following with the lords prayer. Get productive, get coffee, read about 5-6 chapters a day in the Bible. All is done while being able to do an 8hour shift as a crane instructor. Go home and do my 30-45 minute workout. Spend time with my family.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Samonte’ Love is a man shaped by experience, refined by truth, and driven by purpose. Born as Samuel Mallett and raised in Milwaukee, he rose from noise, adversity, and inner conflict to become a teacher, mentor, creative artist, and spiritual voice for transformation. His journey is one of alignment ,moving from survival to intention, from pain to clarity, and from wandering to walking boldly in his calling.
As a crane operator turned community educator, he uses his skills to lift not only machinery, but people. Whether he is teaching others a trade, empowering youth, or guiding adults through life’s hard questions, Samonte’ leads with compassion, humility, and a deep understanding that purpose becomes real only when it’s shared.
As an author, Samonte’ Love writes with transparency and spirit. His book, Figuring It Out Through Another Man’s Eyes, captures his evolution ; the racing thoughts, the ego, the surrender, and the awakening. His words aren’t crafted to impress; they’re crafted to heal, to wake people up, and to remind them that the answers they seek already live within.
As a musical artist, Samonte’ Love channels emotion into sound ; transforming life lessons into lyrical testimony. His voice, his pen, and his presence work together to uplift, align, and inspire.
A husband, father, teacher, and vessel of purpose, Samonte’ Love represents what it means to walk with God, move with intention, and speak with love. Everything he does ;writing, music, teaching, podcasting, building community ; is rooted in his mission: to unlock the spirit in others, so they can rise into their own truth.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
The relationship with my wife has shown me so much, she is my rib, my side and my other half in becoming who I am today. I have to give credit to her in beginning the woman who prayed for me and has given me grace with time to grow.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There was a time I almost gave up. I was fired from kuerig Dr.Pepper. I felt I would retire from there but that place was such a place of anger for me. I remember saying I can keep my salary and retire for them and all went down hill from there. That’s not where god wanted and I still didn’t understand, I received unemployment for about a month and from there had to doordaah and uber. Then stopped due to being mentally drained, from there my wife picked up my slack by going and doordash with an account she started while I played the video game. I looked around and was like that’s who I do it for, so why would I put all this on her and the awakening began.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
This is who I am at all times.
Not the version people liked.
Not the version I shaped to fit into an industry that was never aligned with God’s purpose for me.
For a while, I became the person everyone wanted ;easy to accept, easy to praise, easy to digest. But that wasn’t my true self. That was survival. That was influence. That was image. God didn’t create me to be liked; He created me to be true.
The real me is the same in every room, every conversation, every moment. I don’t switch, I don’t shrink, and I don’t pretend anymore. I walk in the identity God gave me ; and that identity doesn’t bend for approval.
People may judge me before they ever seek to understand who God is.
They may look at me and make assumptions, opinions, or projections.
And that’s okay.
My assignment isn’t to convince them ; it’s to be the light.
To stand firm in truth.
To reflect God’s purpose in the way I move, speak, love, teach, and serve.
Some will misunderstand me.
Some will overlook me.
Some will only see the surface.
But the ones who carry truth in their spirit ; the ones who are ready, open, and aligned ; they will recognize the light when they see it. They’ll understand the message because it speaks to something God already placed inside them.
I don’t live for acceptance anymore.
I live for assignment.
And as long as I continue walking in truth, God will continue revealing why He chose me to be the one others see first; before they see Him.
Because that’s the purpose:
To be a vessel, a reflection, a guide; a light that leads people back to God.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
Knowing how to forgive is one of the hardest lessons we ever learn.
People talk about forgiveness like it’s simple; like it’s a switch you flip or a feeling you wait to feel. But forgiveness is work. Forgiveness is honesty. Forgiveness is spiritual.
We’re told to forgive others, and that alone takes strength.
But the part most people avoid…the part we struggle with quietly…
is forgiving ourselves.
Forgiving ourselves for the decisions we made in pain.
For the times we moved out of fear instead of faith.
For the people we hurt, the roads we took, the moments we regret,
and the versions of ourselves we wish we could forget.
Self-forgiveness is heavier because you can’t escape yourself.
You carry your memories, your mistakes, your intentions, your truth.
You know the real story behind every choice.
And that’s what makes it harder.
But here’s what I’ve learned:
God forgives instantly; humans forgive slowly, if at all.
And that’s why relying on people to free your spirit will always leave you trapped. People hold on to things. People remember differently. People attach your past to your name like it’s permanent.
But God?
God doesn’t hold your past against you.
God doesn’t replay your failures.
God doesn’t keep score.
God forgives the moment your heart shifts.
The moment you understand.
The moment you turn toward truth.
So the real journey is this:
Stop waiting for people to release you.
Stop waiting for the apology they will never give.
Stop waiting for a validation that isn’t coming.
Stand in the forgiveness that God already gave you,
and then slowly, with patience and grace,
learn how to forgive yourself.
Because once you do that…
the weight lifts, the lesson becomes clear,
and you can finally walk in the freedom God intended.
