Today we’d like to introduce you to Adrienne Harrison.
Adrienne, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
There have been many things in life that have led me towards exploring who I am as an artist. For me, it all started with reading. At a young age, books helped to nurture my imagination and plant a seed of creativity deep within me. I was always seeking new ways to open myself up to others and share the way I saw life with them. Which led me to try many different creative outlets. Writing poetry, drawing, and photography are just a few things I dabbled in on my way to where I am today. I truly believe being an artist is a constant learning journey. One where I’ve learned to not only push boundaries society has set, but to push my own as well. To question myself and others, and to be willing to share the rawest parts of who I am.
Modeling has been a new outlet for me that I only discovered this year. But in this short amount of time, it has shown me so very much. Like how there will always be new ways for me to grow as an artist, along with new parts of my soul to explore and share. At twenty-two, I feel like my story is just beginning, and I absolutely can’t wait to see where my passions lead me.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
This year, I’ve really gone head first into my artwork in the best of ways. I’ve become more immersed in my poetry and modeling. Both of these outlets have really helped me find my voice.
A huge inspiration for me artistically is life itself. The beauty of humanity -with all its flaws- and the hidden wonders of life all around us are two things I often find myself thinking of when I’m trying to create.
Through modeling, I hope to not only help break down the barriers of human nudity but more specifically female nudity. I want to spread the message that the body can be stunningly artistic and not just something to be sexualized. I also want to help shatter the idea of the typical model. Elegance and captivating looks can be found in all body types; there is no one shape or size that holds the standards for beauty, fashion or art.
With my poetry, I hope to connect with people on a deeper, more intimate level. Throughout this next year, I’ll be working on writing a poetry book. My goal is to really just bare my soul in its rawest form. My book will be a compilation of bits of myself I’ll be giving to the world. Struggles of love and loss, moments of bliss and everything in between.
I hope the people I’m reaching through my artwork are able to see that there’s an empowering aspect to be found in sharing our vulnerabilities with the world, and that it truly is important to make our voices heard in whatever way we know how. Even if that means leaving our comfort zones.
How do you think about success, as an artist, and what do quality do you feel is most helpful?
As an artist, I define success by feeling fulfilled and proud of the work you’re creating. An essential characteristic in achieving success artistically is the ability to take strength from your weaknesses and vulnerabilities.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
As of now, the best place to see what I’ve been working on is Instagram. You guys can show your support by following me on social media or even booking me for shoots! I keep my profile up to date with projects I’ve been working on, as well as a good way to contact me! I’m currently working on putting a portfolio site together for my modeling, which will include all the ways for people to reach me and book shoots.
I also plan to keep people updated on my book schedule via social media, so keep an eye out!
