Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittani Armstrong.
Brittani, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I am originally from Houston, TX, but I grew up in Southern Louisiana. I am a giver at heart, an attorney by trade, and author and motivational speaker by passion. I graduated from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) with my B.A. in Public Relations and a minor in communications. Following my 2011 graduation from ULL, I moved to Houston for a marketing job. In 2013, I decided to follow my dream of becoming an attorney and enrolled in law school at Texas Southern University Thurgood Marshall School of Law. I graduated from Thurgood in 2016 and become a licensed attorney in November of 2016.
I am a member of the Texas State Bar, an active member of the Mu Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., and creator of the SASSY Women’s Network (Sisters. Applauding. Sisters. Success) an up and coming women’s empowerment organization in the greater Houston area. At SASSY we focus on educating, empowering and encouraging women through seminars, networking events, community service and much more. My latest and most recent venture was the release of my first book Window Seat that focuses on not comparing your journey.
It covers transitional phases in life and how to remain positive during the highs and lows of your life journey. It includes short chapters, 365 words of affirmation and weekly words with short summaries for encouragement. This book is unique to my story because it started as a journal where I shared my deepest and most inner thoughts about where I was in life and eventually it turned into the book Window Seat that I wanted to share with the world to speak to others that may be where I was in life. So, Window Seat is my encouragement and motivation to those out there that are not where they want to be but heading in the right direction.
Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I am an author and my message are simple “first believe that you can and then accept that you will.” So many people struggle with confidence that it’s unreal. A lot of times people will only use the word confidence when speaking of vanity. But it’s so much more than that. I hope that people read Window Seat and find encouragement and hope. I want people to feel motivated and patient with themselves and where they are. I want people to start trusting their process and grasp that their life is their own and they shouldn’t speed up or slow down because of drivers in any other lane.
Any advice for aspiring or new artists?
My advice for other artists is to go for it. I understand that it can be scary and as an artist we are sensitive about our work and what people may think, but what I had to tell myself was that no matter what someone may say about my work there is someone that needs my work and I didn’t want to be the artist/author sitting on a work that someone needed, something that could save someone’s life, or career or relationship.
What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
