Art & Life with Natalie D’Onofrio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Natalie D’Onofrio.

Natalie, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I’ve “liked” photography since probably high school. And I think I truly fell “in love” with photography in 2008 when my first son was born. We lived in Hawaii and I had my camera with me at all times. It’s kinda crazy to think that I’ve been in love with photography for so many years and I’ve only been taking myself seriously since Oct of 2018.  I recently had some situations really encourage me into the position to trust myself and be more confident in pursuing photography wholeheartedly. I also listened to the book “You’re A Badass at Making Money” and that just kinda pushed me over the edge. And voila here I am pursuing a career that I could only see as an unrealistic dream a few months ago!

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
I’m a photographer. I haven’t always really understood how important it is for women to build each other up. But over the years it’s become more and more important. I can’t say that my photography is STRICTLY about women but thats definitely a driver for me. I want EVER female client that I get the pleasure of capturing to walk away just a tiny bit better and a tiny bit more confident I guess is the best way of putting it.

And then on the opposite side of the spectrum, one of my goals has always been to start a nonprofit that caters to orphans. My pops was never adopted and so growing up there never those funny stories that a parent tells about their little one or pictures to look back on. So my vision is to build a nonprofit organization that one day is global and can help build portfolios for these children.

Do you think conditions are generally improving for artists? What more can cities and communities do to improve conditions for artists?
Honestly, this isn’t really something I have given much thought to. I guess it takes more effort to stay up to date with all the different and amazing ways to edit your digital images. But thats one of the exciting and challenging thing about photography I think.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
I’m hands down most active on Instagram @Natalie.J.Photography. I also have a website natjphotography.com.
