Art & Life with Sheri Lynn

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sheri Lynn.

Sheri, please kick things off for us by telling us about yourself and your journey so far.
I began drawing masterpieces in kindergarten, and through the school years, art was the only subject I got A’s in. There weren’t any artists in my family, so I don’t know where the natural ability came from.
I did not have any formal training, and studied on my own, learning by looking at other’s work. I bought a nice set of technical pens and practiced pen and ink techniques. I did get freelance jobs for a magazine, a historical society, and was almost featured in a drawing magazine, but they went out of business the month my article was due to come out.
My dream was to work for anyone that could use my drawing skills.
But now it seems the style of art that I do is now created on computers.
A few years ago, I took up calligraphy, and began to practice various lettering techniques. I always had nice penmanship, so it was a nice addition to my drawing work. I have worked for several brides addressing their wedding invitations, as well as making certificates and other personalized items.
Aside from that, I use my drawing skills to design fashions, Irish dance costumes, paint colorful furniture, and I am an artistic portrait photographer.
Art is a way of life and I am very blessed to be able to live it every day.

Can you give our readers some background on your art?
My pen and ink art are very realistic. I enjoy drawing animals, bringing out their personalities. I am a photographer, so I do take a lot of photos of critters that hang around the yard. If I have a photo I like, I can turn it into a drawing.
I also design and make Irish dance costumes, so drawing is a part of all of my artistic adventures.

What would you recommend to an artist new to the city, or to art, in terms of meeting and connecting with other artists and creatives?
You tube is a great place to chat with others that are interested in the same things you are.
Also, Facebook groups is a good place to “meet” others.

What’s the best way for someone to check out your work and provide support?
