Today we’d like to introduce you to Chadwick Stevenson.
Hi Chadwick, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
To summarize my lengthy story, I can simply say life’s triumphs and tragedies have been used as God’s tools to refine me as a pastor, leader, artist, teacher, and producer. Doing so in the great city of Houston has been a sweetener to the deal.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The overall outlook on my life in ministry and music has been awesome. It’s been the grace of God that has given me strength to persevere despite the death of close family and loved ones, internal battles of motivation, life changes after a public divorce, and the global effects of the Covid Pandemic.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a music artist with three albums that I’ve produced, “Here I Am”, “Live In Houston”, and “The Songbook of Believers Chapel” I written multiple songs for other artists in a wide range of genres. I’ve been blessed to be a go-to person for live music performances and have had the pleasure of working with and sharing the stage with a number of artists. I’m the Founding Pastor of an incredible church in Houston. Believers Chapel Church Of God In Christ has been a jewel and precious gift to me. Some of the most amazing people are members and supporters of the church and it proves to be a God led ministry, “Compelling All Men To Believe in God”. They are truly special. I’m the founder of CSPROfessional Group, housing the production, artist development arms of my business along with Committed to Ministry (CTM). an organization to train and give opportunities to ministry workers, and Da Spot, an alternative Christian setting for young adults to enjoy live music, poetry and more, I’m proud mostly of Believers Chapel because I believe it is the greatest assignment to spread the Word of God, invest and care for the lives of others, and care for His sheep. To be trusted with that assignment is a great honor and one I esteem above anything else. It’s the greatest fulfillment in life to be used by God and to see him change people’s lives right before my very eyes. It’s a thrilling experience.
What makes you different and sets you apart?
Besides my very unavoidable physical features lol, being 6’4 and super light-skinned! Lol, I would say my boldness in originality and courageous mentality. It drives me to be daring, consistent and completely fearless when it’s time to do what I know God has inspired me to do. I’m usually the encouraging voice to others to help them understand that they don’t have to be like everyone else, and they can boldly do what God has placed inside their heart. Most people are confined mentally and afraid to jump into the water, but I believe my faith and confidence in God shows in my efforts and actions, and prayerfully it’s an encouragement to others.
Who else deserves credit in your story?
Yes. My family, Father (deceased) who was also my Pastor, Mother who is my rock and constant support in all my endeavors. My sister Alicia and brother Charles who have both contributed to my success as an artist and leader. My friends who are always ready to do whatever it takes. They all know who they are. The members of Believers Chapel are some of the most consistent and strongest people I know. I give a lot of credit to people that helped me along the way, Pastor John P. Kee who has always encouraged my efforts as an artist since I was a young kid along with my brother Zacardi Cortez. Kim Burrell who provided me with multiple opportunities to serve as a singer and musician for many of her events and performances. She took me to Africa and exposed me to so much so I would have the chance to fully embrace my total creativity. She’s an aunt figure to me who has been that support and advisor since the beginning. Dave Donaldson, a legendary musician and engineer who recorded my records, developed me as a recording artist and engineering live concerts for hundreds of people every Thanksgiving. Bishop Leroy Woodard an employer who became a rock in my life. When my father passed God made sure Bishop Woodard was there for me. He gave me many opportunities that would take all day to name. He took care of me and was patient with me. I owe him a lot. D.Z. Cofield who not only let us use his church for the Houston Community Thanksgiving Concert almost every year, but he sponsored Live In Houston and allowed for us to record that amazing project live.
I’ll never forget that. Dr. Dorinda Clark-Cole of the legendary Clark Sisters gave me multiple opportunities to serve in the National Conventions of the Church of God In Christ after she awarded me Best Male Vocalist for her Singers and Musicians Conference held in Detroit Michigan. She also invested in my ministry by inviting me on Television to perform my music and interview on her show. She partnered with me to host a late night event in Houston with over 2000 people in attendance in Houston’s legendary Holman Street Baptist Church in the heart of Third-Ward. She has been a blessing. Dr. Ralph Douglas West, my uncle, has shared his platform and used his influence to help promote my music and ministry and has always been supportive of my gifts. Honestly, there are so many others who have invested, supported, and done whatever they could do to aid in the success of my music and ministry as a pastor. I would probably get in a lot of trouble attempting to call names, but the way my story goes, I’m so blessed that it’s hard for me to remember all the people that have shown me love and supported my endeavors. I’m favored in a remarkable way and I stand on some incredible shoulders.
