Check out Christopher Malice’s Artwork

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Malice.

Christopher, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I’m a self-taught multi-media artist, and mostly self-taught tattooer with a colorful, and somewhat chaotic past. I love making art in all forms, and I rarely do anything that isn’t in some way connected to my creative process be it traveling, cooking, reading, or even just biking around looking at the shapes, and colors of the natural world around us. I also greatly enjoy teaching others how to grow their artistic skills and learning new skills myself.

We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
I can’t really say that I have a particular style of art that I do because I do so many things at once. I’m currently making and selling all-natural soap, tattooing, painting in acrylic, and watercolors, making fetish wear, and costumes, doing fetish, and concept photography, illustration, making tee shirts, and custom apparel, wood burning, plaster sculpting, and will soon be getting back into ceramics. I use art as more of a way to control my rapidly changing moods, anxiety, and depression. If one were to take something away from my art, it’d be that one is capable of creating just about anything if they put their mind to it.

Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
I’d say the biggest challenge is overcoming social media envy. By that, I mean the desire to gain as many followers, or likes as other more “successful” artists on platforms such as Instagram or Facebook. This envy can cause an artist to get discouraged, and lose focus of their main goal; whatever that may be, and often times can make one’s self-worth plummet to the point where one no longer feels their work has value. I strictly use these platforms for networking, and try not to pay attention to how popular, or unpopular my posts are. Unless I’m responding to comments, I rarely look at how my posts are doing.

Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
Currently my tattoo portfolio is viewable at Workhorsetattoo.com, and @christophermalice on Instagram. My art portfolio is viewable @dichotomy_art on Instagram as well. The best way to support any artist is to share their work, or attend their shows. Even a supportive comment goes a long way!
