Today we’d like to introduce you to Donte and Robin Cherry.
Donte and Robin, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
I (Donte) was working for FedEx Freight making almost $30 an hour, but felt like there was something more. I ended up having an accident and getting fired in October 2017, but I wasn’t in panic mode. Even though, my wife (Robin) was pregnant and on bedrest. We had just purchased two new vehicles and have two other children to take care of. About three months later, I was praying to God and waiting to hear from God for what ‘s next for us. Then, the black panther movie came out, and we all went to see it including our newborn at the time. I then saw what I was meant to do, videography. We started off doing that, and then people began to request photography services. I’ve been doing it full time since. Robin was part-time and did had a full-time job in accounting, but is currently doing it full time also.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
We do everything from photos for families, weddings, artists, business owners, book covers to music videos, documentaries, short films, and commercials. We offer photography and videography as well as graphic design services. We create memorable moments and bring people’s vision to life visually. We do this through prayer, studying our clients, and trying new creative things as well as providing a great experience for anyone we come into contact with. We hope that everyone takes away love, positivity, confidence and most of all to see Christ. AAlso, we want others to see that you can create greatness with what you have. Our art represents everyday people creating extraordinary things.
Artists face many challenges, but what do you feel is the most pressing among them?
I think the biggest challenge for artists is to not compare themselves to others.
