Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Jeffries.
Jessica, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
It all began when I graduated high school. My mom and I began an Online Boutique, so I picked up a camera as a way of capturing the new inventory as it came in. From there of course I had friends and family begin asking for sessions. It was not until I was asked to capture a dear friend’s wedding that I found my true passion.
Thankfully, with the start of doing weddings my husband, Brian, joined in and we became a husband and wife duo capturing weddings and all things romantic like engagements and bridals. We have a strong passion for capturing each and every one of our couples and giving them images just as unique as they are. Over the years of capturing weddings together Brian and I have added videography to our list of services giving our couples the option to have one big team that works together.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
We are luxury fine art hybrid photographers and videographers. Providing our couples with a lasting experience of smiles and love. It wasn’t until this past year we adding film photography and videography to our portfolio. Being able to offer such a wide variety has not only made our hearts happy with the images we create but what we are able to provide to our couples.
Shooting as a hybrid photographer now gives our couples the best of both worlds. They not only get the breathtaking digital images, but, now they get the fine art real in the moment film. Adding videography has been an amazing experience as well. We are giving our couples more than just images at this point, we are providing them with real movement, real laughter, real emotion. We have even gone so far as to start videoing engagement sessions. Showing that love and raw emotion of celebrating and engagement is such a sweet time in every couple’s life.
The sterotype of a starving artist scares away many potentially talented artists from pursuing art – any advice or thoughts about how to deal with the financial concerns an aspiring artist might be concerned about?
Where there is a will there is always a way. It has been a hard road for us due to financial concerns but if you push hard enough there is always a way to make it happen. It’s ok for it not to happen overnight or in just a year. We’ve been doing wedding for over five years and we are just now starting to get to a point where we are comfortable with the amount of equipment we own (without renting), the number of weddings we take on in year, etc. The best advice we could give is to never give up, even when it is hard, don’t give up. Get a great support of friends in your same industry, this has been one of the biggest benefits.
Do you have any events or exhibitions coming up? Where would one go to see more of your work? How can people support you and your artwork?
All of my work is available to be viewed online unless a couple wishes to meet with us in person.
