Today we’d like to introduce you to Jr Garcia.
Jr, we’d love to hear your story and how you got to where you are today both personally and as an artist.
My name is José Abilio Garcia but go by Jr. I’m the only boy out 2 sisters so you can imagine how that was lol. I was a professional boxer and started boxing a young age and becoming a world champion was my dream. At age 21 after one of my matches I suffer a hand injury and attend many doctors and no solution. I keep on training and fighting. Then at age 23 after another match I know my hand wasn’t ok. Went back to the doctor and on an MRI it show on my right hand on the index knuckle a ligament was damaged. I had surgery and had 3 months of therapy and once I headed back to my training camp my hand wasn’t the same. That’s when I had to make a decision to move forward and pursuit filmmaking and photography. I all ways loving capturing my life so I can always keep my boxing memories and my childhood dream alive.
We’d love to hear more about your art. What do you do you do and why and what do you hope others will take away from your work?
What I want to accomplish in this industry is to start my own production company. From doing weddings to music video and one day to making films. At the moment I’m already starting making video production to clients. Just have to keep working hard and invest in my dream.
What do you know now that you wished you had learned earlier?
Do what you have to do it’s necessary without hurting anyone and making your dream a reality
