During the unprecedented spring of 2020, ACASA Margarita Mix was created from a tried and true recipe in hopes of restoring some enjoyment and simplicity during uncertain times. As the name states, “a casa” means “at home” in Spanish and is exactly where friends and family can enjoy this all-natural, clean version of the classic cocktail. Despite our ever-changing world, one thing remains the same— the love of the margarita!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Everything in life comes with risks and challenges. Same applies to ACASA. One of our biggest challenges has been rising prices. We’ve had to get creative in sourcing limes as the costs have increased 4x since we began a year ago.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Catherine and I met through our pre-school children, who happen to all be best friends. Thank goodness for this as we spend A LOT of waking and (sleeping/over) time together. We are involved in every step of the mix process from production to bottling to delivery. As a new business, we have our hands in every part of the business not only to make sure things go smoothly, but also in order to train a great team to help us grow ACASA. It’s imperative that we know what can go wrong and how to handle it.
We are known for our perfectly sweetened margarita mix! Not to tart and not overly sweet. We like to say, we found the “sweet” spot.
We are most proud of the rate of growth in a single year. We never dreamed of being in nine retail stores this time a year ago. On top of that, most of our retailers have reached out to us!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Put yourself out there! Do pop-ups, markets, and giveaways. We’ve learned that giving our time and energy always lends itself to meeting the most rewarding and promising relationships and opportunities.
