Check Out Adaeze Okwuonu’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Adaeze Okwuonu.

Hi Adaeze, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My story is really about becoming — learning to embrace every layer of who I am and creating space to express that fully. I started by sharing skincare and beauty tips with friends, and over time, that turned into The Adaezeverse — a space where I explore joy, softness, and self-expression through travel, beauty, and everyday life.

As someone who isn’t naturally creative, I needed an outlet, and this journey gave me that. My series, Adventures in the Adaezeverse, began as a way to try one new thing a month, and it’s opened doors I never expected. What started small has become my personal archive, my creative home, and a love letter to other women figuring it out too

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road, but I think that’s what’s made the journey meaningful. One of the biggest challenges has been giving myself permission to evolve — especially online, where people expect you to stay in one lane. I started out just sharing skincare, and shifting into more lifestyle, beauty, and self-discovery content felt scary at first. I had to remind myself that I’m allowed to grow, change, and explore different parts of myself.

Another challenge has been battling self-doubt. Since I don’t come from a creative background, I wonder if the content I shared was even worth watching — especially while I’m still figuring out how to edit, how to open up, and how to tell my story in a way that feels true to me. But The Adaezeverse has shown me that creativity doesn’t have to be perfect — it can be soft, evolving, and deeply personal.

There were also moments where I felt stuck or invisible, especially in the early days when I wasn’t seeing much growth. But I kept showing up because I believed in the space I was creating — and little by little, it started to resonate.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
By day, I work in the finance department at a university, where I focus on financial reporting, analysis, and helping teams make informed decisions. I’ve learned how to take complex information and break it down in a way that actually makes sense — whether that’s through a forecast, a report, or a conversation with leadership.

Alongside that, I’m currently a content and community intern for a skincare brand sold in Sephora. It’s been such a rewarding experience — I’m learning how to write with intention, plan campaigns, and engage with an audience in a way that feels both creative and purposeful. It’s also helped me better understand the beauty industry from the inside, which has directly influenced how I show up and build The Adaezeverse.

What sets me apart is that I bring both clarity and care into everything I do. Whether it’s numbers or narratives, I believe in making things accessible, thoughtful, and real. That balance between structure and creativity is what makes my work — and my story — unique.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In both finance and beauty, I see a shift toward personalization and intentionality. Finance is becoming more people-focused, with better communication and transparency. In beauty, I see more personalized skincare, smarter tech, and a stronger focus on real skin and clean ingredients. Both spaces are evolving to reflect what really matters to people — and I love that.
