Today we’d like to introduce you to Adriana Rico.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my journey almost two years ago after the passing of my grandmother, Evangelina Rico. Her birthday was on February 14th, and she would have turned 100 in just a few months. She absolutely loved flowers, every year her birthday was filled with beautiful arrangements and love. When she passed, I asked how I could help, and my uncle simply said, “I just want a bunch of flower arrangements for mom.”
I’ve always been very creative and hands-on, I love to decorate and so I decided to make them myself, even though I had never worked with flowers before. I didn’t want to just order any arrangements online for my “Welita”. In just two days, I created four large arrangements, and they came out beautifully. That moment sparked something in me.
A few weeks later, a childhood friend reached out asking if I could create a meaningful baseball home plate arrangement. It was made entirely out of roses, for a lady that meant a lot to him and the community. He sent me a simple sketch, I brought his vision to life, and from there, everything just started to bloom. Orders began coming in, and what started as a one-time act of love quickly turned into something much bigger.
I eventually opened my own shop on a date that held deep meaning, it would have been my mom’s 80th birthday on December 4th 2024. Naming my business after her made it even more special. Isabel’s Flowers and More!! Although I had a storefront for about 10 months, balancing it with my full-time job became challenging, so I transitioned to working from home. I built a studio in my garage, which gave me the flexibility to create on my own time while still growing my business.
For me, this isn’t just work, it’s my passion and my therapy. I truly love what I do. Every arrangement I create comes from the heart. Whether it’s for a wedding, a quinceañera, a birthday, or a funeral, I see each piece as a way to honor someone’s story.
I love being able to bring comfort, joy, and beauty into people’s lives, especially during their most meaningful moments. One of the greatest honors is being trusted during people’s most important moments, moments filled with love and memories that will last forever. Whether it’s celebrating a new beginning or honoring a life well lived, every arrangement tells a story, and being a part of that is everything to me.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many journeys worth taking, it’s come with its share of challenges. There were moments, both professionally and personally, that tested me in ways I didn’t expect. While I prefer to keep some of those details private, I can say that I’ve had to navigate difficult environments, overcome setbacks, and learn to let go of things and people that no longer aligned with my growth. That isn’t always easy, but it’s necessary.
Those experiences, though tough, helped shape me. They taught me resilience, strengthened my mindset, and reminded me to stay focused on my purpose. At the end of the day, I chose to keep moving forward, to keep creating, and to not let anything dim what I know I’m capable of building. There’s so much love to share, in a world full of ugliness, choose kindness. It costs nothing.
And that’s what continues to drive me today, just love.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create deeply personal, one-of-a-kind floral arrangements that tell a story. My work is centered around bringing people’s visions and memories, to life. I sit with families, listen to their stories, and help transform those moments into something meaningful and beautiful.
Alongside my husband, I design highly detailed and custom pieces that you don’t typically see, arrangements inspired by passions, personalities, and legacies. From sports-themed tributes for Astros, Texans, or Cowboys fans, to something as personal as a fedora design for a grandfather who wore one every day, each piece is created with intention and meaning.
My husband, who has an engineering background, builds the structure and foundation with precision, and I bring it to life, making each arrangement full, vibrant, and impactful. That balance of structure, detail and creativity is what truly sets our work apart.
I’m known for going above and beyond. I don’t believe in doing the bare minimum or creating something “just enough.” I create pieces that are abundant, bright, and unforgettable. People often tell me to use less, to save money, but I choose to give more…because these moments matter. Whether it’s a final goodbye or a celebration of life, it should feel as special as the person being honored.
What I’m most proud of is the comfort I’m able to bring during some of life’s hardest moments. Families trust me with their stories, and I take that responsibility to heart. If I can ease even a small part of their pain by creating something meaningful, then I know I’ve done what I was meant to do.
We love surprises, fun facts and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
Something that might surprise people is how deeply connected I am to the special needs community, it’s truly a huge part of who I am.
For years, I’ve worked closely with individuals with special needs, creating spaces where they feel seen, valued, and celebrated. That experience has shaped not only my life, but also the way I approach my work. It’s taught me patience, compassion, and how to truly listen…not just to words, but to emotions.
That same heart carries into my floral designs. When I sit with families and hear their stories, I connect with them on a deeper level. I understand how important it is to honor someone fully, for who they were, what they loved, and the impact they had.
My passion has always been about people, making them feel important, understood, and loved. Whether I’m working with my special needs community or creating an arrangement for someone’s most meaningful moments, it all comes from the same place: genuine love, purpose, and connection. It’s who my Mami was, she was full of love and very caring, hence my sign on my background pictures, “I love you tu much!” It’s what she would tell us daily. Never forget, she would tell me, “Tu vales Oro!”. How much is gold worth nowadays?!! Haha! Know your worth. If there’s anything beautiful about me or my work, it’s because my Mami taught me that the greatest thing you can give this world is love.
