Today we’d like to introduce you to Alessia Crespo.
Hi Alessia, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Alessia Crespo, and eight years ago I immigrated to Houston from my beautiful home country, Bolivia, right after finishing high school. I came seeking better opportunities for myself and my family, and Houston quickly became the place where I began building my dreams.
Shortly after arriving, I was scouted at a mall with John Casa Blanca modeling agency and years later signed with Page Parkes Modeling Agency. Modeling is a passion I continue to pursue today, I’ve had the blessing to be able to walk In New York and Houston for amazing designers and work for with great teams at photoshoots. Alongside modeling, I teach young girls how to walk the runway, pose, and carry themselves with confidence, helping them discover their own potential.
I graduated from the University of Houston and am now pursuing my career in marketing, while also expanding my presence as a content creator. In addition, I work with the Bolivian talk show “Así Somos”, connecting with audiences and sharing stories that celebrate culture and community.
Beyond my professional life, I am deeply passionate about fitness. I train consistently at the gym and am currently preparing, alongside my mom, to run the Chevron Houston Marathon. Running has become both a discipline and a source of empowerment for me.
Finally, I am committed to making a difference through advocacy. As someone living with lupus, I am working toward creating a non-profit organization for Lupus Awareness — a safe platform where people with autoimmune diseases can share their experiences, find support, and uplift one another.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has definitely not been a smooth road. Starting from zero in a new country with a different language, culture, and environment, it was definitely a shock. Not a day went by that I didn’t miss my home country, but I was determined to stay, achieve my dreams, and make a difference.
Balancing school, the gym, a demanding job, and my modeling career was a constant challenge. I spent most of my time in Houston working in car sales, where being the youngest saleswoman pushed me to grow up quickly. I learned how to negotiate, solve problems, and work long hours, all while committing to finishing my bachelor’s degree and pursuing my passion for modeling.
The journey has been tough, but I could not have done it without the unwavering support of my family. They have cheered me on every step of the way and encouraged me to dream big. Their belief in me has taught me that anything is possible when hard work and dedication are put in.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I consider myself both a creative artist and a dedicated professional. For me, marketing and sales are about creativity finding new ways to stand out and connect with people. I am proud of everything I’ve accomplished so far and excited about what lies ahead.
From organizing events for major brands like BMW, to producing fashion shows for Houston’s top designers, to coordinating photoshoots with prestigious names such as Aston Martin, Valobra, and Macy’s many of which have been featured in magazines each opportunity has been a blessing. Working alongside such talented teams and producers has been a dream come true.
At the same time, I’ve built my career as a fashion model, bringing creativity to life on runways and in photoshoots. Collaborating with Houston’s incredible talent makeup artists, videographers, and photographers has been an honor, and I am grateful to my agency for supporting me in walking some of the city’s biggest shows, including the prestigious TOOTSIES runway.
I also have the privilege of teaching through Modeling Mindset Company, where I share my knowledge and help young girls build confidence while learning the art of modeling, runway, and posing. Guiding them to discover their own strength and presence has been one of the most rewarding parts of my journey.
Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
My advice for finding a mentor or networking is to keep an open mind and start with yourself. Do your research, spend time in introspection, and really understand what you want and what makes your heart happy. Once you have that clarity, use every resource available to you. With social media today, it’s easier than ever to connect with mentors or discover events where you can network.
One quote that has always stuck with me is: “You know you’re in the right place when you don’t feel like the smartest person in the room.” Surrounding yourself with people who challenge you helps you grow mentally and pushes you to become more ambitious. For me, having the right mindset and a strong attitude has been everything, it’s what keeps me moving forward!
