Andreina Amado

Hi Andreina, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
The Flower Queen was always meant to be a family business that went from a simple thought to a reality. It was a call out for personal independence a way to achieve something I always wanted to do and a way to pay back all the opportunities this country has provided to not just me, but my family as well. After a year and a half of being up and running, our objective, as our motto states, is “Send flowers, receive love.” We strive that our customers get to feel the joy and motivation we have throughout our work. Despite being currently a small business, we hope to grow as we learn from our mistakes and expand our services. We wish that by 2025 we can achieve all our goals that push us forward and motivate us to keep growing so we can reach as many people as possible and make them happy through our work.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has not been easy, but it has been very instructive. Obstacles are there to be overcome and mistakes are there to be learned from, so the path of entrepreneurship is full of many lessons. I have particularly had the challenge of improving my English and losing the embarrassment of speaking. Daily contact with clients and suppliers has been valuable and I am very grateful for the support I have received from them. It has also been a challenge to undertake a new area of business, however, every day that passes I feel more in love with my work. Lastly, I must consider the competition; other local businesses motivate me to improve, be creative, and create my own particular stamp, which differentiates me from the rest.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I have always been a creative person with manual and artistic skills. This led me to work for many years and specialize as an editor of books in Spanish, gaining extensive experience in editorial production. Thanks to this knowledge, I have also dedicated myself to writing stories for adults and children. However, in this new stage of my life I am making a dream come true: starting my own flower shop business. I feel very satisfied to have managed to materialize an idea, which every day gives me small satisfactions and learnings. I also feel that it is another way to release my creativity, because before I only did it through words; but now I do it through the beautiful creation of nature, with flowers. But the most valuable thing for me is that in one way or another, I manage to awaken feelings and emotions in those who see my creations (written or in floral arrangements) and that is my intention, to leave a mark by awakening a beautiful feeling and a reflection. I know that the road is long and I have a lot to achieve, but I motivate myself day by day with all the ideas that I hope to gradually materialize and that will make The Flower Queen a unique brand. For now, this coming year 2025 I will be offering original products and services through the website, which I am sure will be liked and of interest to many people in the community of Conroe and its surroundings.

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
Taking risks is a part of life, although I consider myself a cautious person when it comes to taking them. As much as possible, I try to pre-evaluate situations before making a decision; however, there are times when you have to “take the plunge.” For example, eight years ago we decided to emigrate. It was extreme circumstances that forced me, along with my family, to take many risks, to lose everything we had, and to start from scratch. In that case, we had to do it for our safety and the future of my daughters. The reality is that sometimes risks are not a choice, but a necessity.
