Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashlynn McKay.
Hi Ashlynn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Ashlynn McKay, and I am a lifestyle influencer and elementary teacher from Dallas, TX. During the 2020 COVID era, as classroom life and education came to a halt, I found myself at a little bit of a loss of what to do with myself.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I have always had a passion for teaching and really enjoyed social media, so in 2021, I took the chance and began “posting like an influencer.” This was a lot harder than it sounds, social media can be really tough on you emotionally, and it is easy to play the comparison game with everyone else on the platform. I still sometimes get in my head with the things I am doing, wondering if I’m really good enough, but at the end of the day, social media is just that- social. I have always been the friend of “influence” People ask who does my hair or where to go for dinner one night, why not share it- even for a small audience? After a lot of work on myself and my brand, I have finally found my voice in content creation! My content focuses on empowering young women to become “that girl” or the best version of themselves by finding and using products that make them feel happy, alive, and confident.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As an influencer, I have the unique opportunity to travel around locally to showcase different businesses, restaurants, and event launchings. I love sharing content that is meaningful to my audience and specifically targets my young adult audience. One of my favorite things to do is product reviews; there are so many little conveniences that make life better that I love sharing with my audience.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Everyone is always doing something better than you. It’s okay to sit in your own self and learn to love your pattern of growth; we all bloom differently.
