Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Muecke.
Hi Beth, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Beth Muecke wasn’t born in Texas, but she got here as soon as she could! A proud mother of two and grandmother of 3, Beth discovered her love of fashion at a young age. With a strong appreciation towards all aesthetics, she’s created a style that’s entirely her own- pairing classic and eclectic, feminine and funky, and always adding a fashionable dose of global influence as a nod to her love of travel. With a degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a strong background in dance, Beth has been a Houston Ballet board member for 26 years, chaired the Houston Ballet Ball and served on the Capital Campaign Committee. As a way to share her love of fashion, people, Houston and travel, she launched her website Bethielife.com. This has allowed Beth to communicate directly with “the everyday woman” and share her insights on fashion, beauty, personal style, and the best things the city of Houston has to offer. She strongly believes that women should choose to do and wear anything they want at any age. Beth also has many other hobbies including ballet, pilates, yoga, golf, swimming and travel. The most important part of Beth’s life is her family.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
When my children went off to college I decided to turn the spotlight back on myself. I became single and started to self actualize in how I wanted to live and express myself from my 50’s into the future. Some people loved the new me, but I also lost some friends over it.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Being creative is the fountain of youth. It gets you excited to produce something for people to enjoy. I try to do that with fashion. I am a bit of a maximalist, so all of my outfits are styled from head – to -toe. What sets me apart is I dress whimsically, with a ballet influence many times, also a princess influence, music festival and classic influence as well. I am known for not dressing “my age”.
What were you like growing up?
I grew up in Rockford, Illinois. I started taking dance classes at a young age and it is still a huge part of my life. I started loving fashion around high school age. When I was young i was an active golfer, snow skier and competitive swimmer as well. Due to the cold weather, which I never adapted to, I went to the University of Texas in Austin. I was President of my Tri-Delta sorority senior year, which was an amazing experience. After college I moved to Houston and have been here ever since!!
