Check Out Betsy Diaz-Waugh’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Betsy Diaz-Waugh.

Betsy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Nazareth’s Treasures came to fruition during the height of the pandemic in my small New York apartment, consisting of Fashion Jewelry, some of which I handmade myself. I wanted to reach out to women and remind them that, no matter the situations we are facing, that we are strong, beautiful, brave and to not let anyone tell them otherwise. Which is why my business slogan is from Isaiah 61:3 “He Makes Beauty Out Of Ashes”. We can rise above the obstacles, the challenges move forward, prosper and shine when we have Faith and believe in ourselves.

It all started with weekly lives on Facebook and IG, in the evenings after I would come home from work. I was so nervous in the beginning, as this was totally out of my comfort zone. However, I pushed myself and with each live I started to get into my own groove. I started to gain clientele through my lives, referrals and my website.

Then in April 2021, I relocated to Houston, TX. I was informed that there are many pop-up events held all over and so I started my search for my 1st popup, which was in October. It was a totally new experience that opened my eyes to the unlimited opportunities to grow and reach out to so many women who need to be reminded of their beauty. That 1st event led to many others. At first, I stayed in the South Houston area as I was still learning to get around, but now, I have branched out to the Northwest side, and I look forward to soon traveling outside of Houston.

My goal is that each piece of jewelry makes every woman feel radiant, a treasure that uplifts their spirit and empowers them.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Well, because my merchandise was ultimately geared to my New York clientele, my biggest challenge was learning what attracts the women of Houston. I try to find pieces that are not seen elsewhere but that still fit their daily lifestyle while remaining true to the uniqueness of each piece.

Another challenge has been learning to travel to these various locations. In the beginning, I was afraid of not knowing where I was going but the more I got out there, the more confident I became.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am an Accounts Receivable/Collections Specialist of over 12 years. My account portfolio consists of major hospitals, retail and commercial businesses from resolving billing and invoice discrepancies to the processing of payments. I am most known for the restoring of delinquent accounts.

I am proud of many things, such as, making the transition to a new state alone, getting my small business on its way, while starting a new job all within my first month of living in Houston. I came to Houston with a vision to grow and prosper, and I am proud that I took that leap of faith and was brave enough to see it through. There is this quote that I once came across that really moved me, “There’s a you in the inside of you that you haven’t met yet”. If I think back to a few years prior. I would never see myself leaving my hometown and all I am accustomed to and starting fresh in a new state. BUT, as time progressed I discovered the strength, courage, and faith within me that wasn’t there before. It is so refreshing and rewarding to see all I have accomplished in 14 months. I’ve learned that we can never underestimate ourselves, we can do and achieve really anything we desire. Always have faith, trust God and believe in yourself!

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I learned that we shouldn’t take life for granted. We should spread love, joy and kindness to everyone. We should cherish memories and discard the grudges because in a moment, you can be gone or lose a loved one. We should always take precautions when we are sick and not only think of ourselves but also use preventive measures to avoid the spread to others.
