Today we’d like to introduce you to Brenda Lopez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
This chapter of my life came as a total surprise. I made the decision in December of 2021 to make my health a priority and really put myself first. So, I started my fitness and wellness journey, and I began filming to track my progress. On a whim and through some gentle nudging from friends, I posted about my progress on Instagram and… it really took off! Now, I’ve got 38k followers who are inspired by my journey and motivated to begin their own!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
My weight has fluctuated my whole life but has always been on the heavier side. I’ve started many times but always hit a wall and end up giving up. This time, I’m taking a whole different approach and thinking big picture for a more well-rounded, healthier lifestyle change. It’s been eight months without giving up and I’m going strong! The biggest struggle has been unlearning toxic learned behavior – meaning bad eating habits, unrealistic body expectations thanks to society and just overall unhealthy patterns. This journey has been just as much about my mental changes along with the physical changes.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Officially, I’m a wedding photographer with my own business, Bella Lumi. Photography and imagery, in general, has always been a passion. With brendaworksout, I’ve been able to delve into content creation and focus on another new passion – my fitness! It’s been so fun creating video content and I’m enjoying the learning process that comes with this new avenue. I believe what sets me apart the most is how authentic my content is. Starting a fitness journey is overwhelming in and of itself, and social media is flooded with people who are “body goals” who post but a lot can be unrelatable to many. Most of my followers have expressed how much they love seeing a person who looks like them posting about their journey and sharing resources to help them start. It inspires them so much and that just motivates me even more to keep sharing!
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I’m not sure what I would call my industry because I don’t see myself as an “influencer” at all, but the follower count says otherwise. I definitely love the content creation aspect of it and I don’t see that trend going away anytime soon. Blogging and now, vlogging, has always been content people have loved and I see it continuing to grow.
