Check Out Brent Law’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brent Law.

Hi Brent , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I was raised in the small country town, where life on a farm taught me the values that still guide me today—responsibility, hard work, and service to others. From raising cattle and tending a garden to driving tractors and fishing, I learned early that life may not hand you much, but you can always create something out of nothing. My parents instilled in me the belief that where you come from doesn’t define where you can go, and that life, even when it seems black and white, is meant to be painted with color.

As a child, I found that color through creativity and competition. I was an athlete with a love for being on the field, but I was also an artist who loved to draw, design outfits, and sing in my church choir. Fashion became a way for me to express myself, and it taught me how confidence, creativity, and presentation could change the way people see not just clothes, but life itself.

As the oldest of three siblings and now a father of two, leadership and responsibility came naturally. I learned to remain calm under pressure, to guide with patience, and to serve with empathy. Whether helping my neighbors as a boy or mentoring youth and supporting shelters as a man, I’ve always believed that my purpose is tied to lifting others up.

That purpose carried me into founding Dexterity Talent Company—a platform where art, fashion, and opportunity meet community. Through it, I’ve had the privilege of working with people from all walks of life, empowering them to see their worth and shine. My journey has taken me around the world, and while I’ve stood in international fashion capitals, my heart always returns to those small-town lessons: work hard, care for others, and never forget that even the simplest beginnings can lead to the brightest futures.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has been anything but smooth. Dexterity Talent was born out of my own sacrifices and savings—it took me over three years to save the money to start this company, and it has remained completely self-funded ever since. There were no investors or large sponsors backing me, just a dream and the determination to create something that would open doors for others.

One of the hardest struggles has been trying to establish a minority-owned business in Houston, where so much of the top client space is already dominated by non-minority companies. Too often, opportunities aren’t based on talent or quality of work, but on who you know or what you look like. I’ve been judged, overlooked, and denied jobs because of the color of my skin rather than the skills and vision I bring to the table. That reality is painful, but it has also fueled my determination to keep moving forward.

Despite the lack of sponsorships and the constant uphill climb to simply be recognized and given a fair shot, Dexterity has never stopped creating opportunities. We change lives by offering free classes, workshops, and seminars in everything from modeling and singing to marketing, communication, and even resume building. We provide our talent with clothes and training to prepare them for the industry, because I believe everyone deserves a chance to shine—no matter their background.

Beyond that, our work extends deeply into the community. We’ve sheltered individuals who had nowhere to go, provided housing for those in need, and fed the homeless when they needed a hot meal. And all of this—every show, every class, every act of service—has been funded from within. We pour back into our people with our own money because we know the value of investing in human lives.

The struggles are real, and they’re ongoing, but they don’t define us. They only remind us why we started: to fight for fairness, to create opportunities, and to prove that no matter where you come from or what roadblocks you face, your story and your talent deserve a stage.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
At Dexterity Talent Company, we are proud to be recognized as one of the top minority-owned talent companies in Texas—earning that title three years in a row (2022, 2023, and 2024). Personally, I’ve had the honor of being a two-time recipient of the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award for service, which is one of my proudest achievements because it reflects not just business success, but the impact we’ve made in people’s lives.

We are a one-stop shop for production and entertainment. Our company produces full-scale events and shows of every kind—fashion, film, music, dance, corporate productions—and we also represent and develop diverse talent, including models, actors, dancers, singers, artists, and more. We’ve worked with global brands like L’Oréal, Lamborghini, and Prada, and have traveled with our talent to international fashion capitals such as Paris and Milan. What makes us especially proud is that many of these opportunities were self-funded by us so that our talent could live their lifelong dreams of walking in international shows and being part of global stages. Making dreams come true—that’s one of our biggest accomplishments.

What sets Dexterity apart is how we treat our people. Unlike many other agencies and companies that charge high fees or put up financial barriers, we don’t ask our talent to pay for the opportunity to grow. Those we select to be part of our company receive services at no cost—from professional runway, acting, and vocal training to financial literacy, mental health counseling, videography, and full production support. We believe access to opportunity should not depend on your bank account.

At our heart, we are about more than entertainment—we are about empowerment. We are known for changing lives, creating pathways for people who might otherwise be overlooked, and giving them the tools, training, and platform to succeed. That is what keeps us going: seeing individuals step into their purpose and knowing we played a part in helping them shine.

What does success mean to you?
For me, success isn’t measured by money, titles, or how many people know your name—it’s measured by impact. True success is when you can look around and see lives changed because of something you poured your heart into. It’s when a young model walks her very first international runway, when someone who once doubted themselves finds their confidence, or when a family has food and shelter because you chose to give.

Coming from a small country town with very little, I was taught that success is about making something out of nothing—and then turning around and helping others do the same. At Dexterity Talent Company, every time we create an opportunity for someone who thought their dream was out of reach, that’s success. Every time we empower someone to believe in themselves, that’s success.

To me, success is not about what I achieve alone—it’s about how many others I can bring with me.
