Check Out Brooke Lynn Brown’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Lynn Brown.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I always loved taking photos for as long as I can remember. When I was a teenager, I would take photos of my friends on my pink digital camera, then print them to be displayed in my room. It wasn’t until I was 22 that I decided to buy myself a real DSLR camera. What started off as for fun photos of my own life lead to a spark in me to continue to create more and more. I became so passionate about the craft of photography! It amazed me how much fun I could have while taking photos of others. In the beginning, I would focus on photographing family and friends. Word of mouth would spread and before I knew it I had people reaching out that I hadn’t met before wanting me to photograph them. When the pandemic hit, I found myself dreaming about how fun it would be to come up with a concept and focus my shoots around that specific thing or topic. Social media has had a huge impact on my journey in creative portraits. I was able to focus on what I wanted my business to look like. I began working with models in Houston, experimenting with lighting, camera gear and learning Photoshop. Not everything in the process has been easy, but in the end very rewarding not only in my work but myself.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Nothing ever goes as smoothly as we hope. Obstacles lead you to a better outcome in my opinion. If you don’t have some hiccups you aren’t growing. Being self-taught in this field can lead to some mistakes here and there. But I was able to learn from them. I think when the pandemic hit it really made me take a step back. I was able to focus on what I wanted my business to look like and who I wanted to be.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m Brooke, a creative portrait photographer in Houston, Texas. I would describe my photography as fun, funky, and freeing. My goal in every session is to make everyone feel their best. I’m always going to hype you up because you deserve it! I would say I’m known for my unique style. I love giving my photos a film look with a twist on editing and fashion. I’m most proud of my growth in finding my style. It wasn’t easy and it takes time. I think what can set me apart from others is how much I pour my personality into my work. I’m very bubbly and fun and I believe my work showcases that perfectly.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
Of course, I have so many! I’ve looked up to many photographers from all over the world. Some are Amber Asaly, Lindsey Ruth, & Petra Collins. Their work inspired me to push myself outside of the average photos. Along with my friends who have always been there for me whether they would be my models or spread the word about my business.
