Check Out Candace Reuter-Acord’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Reuter-Acord.

Hi Candace, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My story starts with being fascinated with the arts. Pretty simple, I guess. Early on I was well educated with the importance of  Fine Arts, by attending Houston Ballet performances, Hobby Center Musicals and Houston Symphony productions. It never dawned on me this could be a career choice until the movie Pearl Harbor debuted in 2001. My goals surrounding film began there. I began researching, writing my own scripts, taking theater and musical theater courses in school. As time progressed, I signed with a local Houston agency, Page Parkes Talent, and finished my film degree with Arizona State University. Throughout these milestones, I realized my love of film came in the form of writing. Producing novels, scripts and children’s books from mere ideas, that would later be developed into entertainment others could enjoy. Today, I am an awarding-winning script writer and published author. I will say, there is always that one moment in life that ignites the soul, propelling your goals into overdrive. As much as you try to ignore it, you just know it’s destiny. Mine truly started with a movie and the innovation that ensued with it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Farthest from, but goodness has it been rewarding. University expectations are next level, add in a family and full-time work, you can bet challenges were there. For at least two years I worked every night until 2 in the morning, just to meet a deadline. Not to mention the constant acting courses I engulfed myself in just to grab that shot at signing with an agency. It paid off in the end. I gained that agent and diploma. I learned how to write, produce and edit a Film Festival-worthy entry from a cell phone. How less is more within a script writing. And the power of Stanislavsky Methods.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Currently, I’m set to launch my second children’s book, Emy’s World:Farm Days. This project is so special because it’s the second installment of Emys journey! Aside from educating children on true farm animal facts, Emy’s World brings recognition to American Farmers. Which by the way, hi farmers, we see you.

Emy’s World 2 will launch mid July 2022, with my paperback version on Amazon and hardcover with Barnes Noble.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
What is success without risks? It’s the old cliché saying of “leap of faith”. In an instance it’s true! You will never know unless you try. The beauty of taking a risk is all the knowledge you gain in the process. The unknowns finally become clearer with each achieved goal. One of the biggest tragedies an entrepreneur can experience is not taking that risk, that jump, that chance and realizing one day it’s too late. Don’t be the “what if”, be the “I know”.
