Hi Captain Dwayne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Totally Texas Outdoors LLC has grown and evolved through a rich tapestry of experiences and opportunities.
As I reflect on my lifelong passion for the outdoors, I can trace its roots back to my childhood adventures in the Texas wilderness. At the age of seven or eight, I began accompanying my dad and Papaw Green on hunting trips in the rice fields near Alvin, Texas. Those formative outings with these two influential figures sparked my deep appreciation for nature.
The outdoors quickly became my sanctuary, whether I was boating on the waters near Galveston, Freeport, or Bastrop; deer hunting in the stunning Texas Hill Country; or dove and duck hunting in the rice fields surrounding our family farm in Alvin, Texas, that became a cherished setting.
As I grew older, I was fortunate to share my love for the outdoors with my brothers—especially my oldest brother, Jeff. Still today, years later, I am able help him on his ranch in Alabama a few times a year, and we have enjoyed hunting together for fun throughout much of our adult lives. My lifelong friend, Deats Burbank, has also been by my side since our junior high and high school days. He continues to work with me as a guide for Totally Texas Outdoors LLC in Nocona, Texas.
I am truly grateful for the opportunity to keep exploring the great outdoors, both for personal enjoyment and through my professional endeavors with Totally Texas Outdoors LLC.
We take great pride in the growth we’ve experienced over the years here at Totally Texas Outdoors LLC. Currently, we offer saltwater fishing adventures out of Matagorda, Texas, along with duck, deer, and spring turkey hunts in Nocona, Texas. Our mission as a team is to establish ourselves as a premier hunting and fishing outfitter for families, corporations, and friends who simply want to enjoy and appreciate the beauty of nature with us.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As my parents have always reminded me, nothing worth having comes easily, and that sentiment rings true for Totally Texas Outdoors LLC. Finding the right people to surround yourself with can be quite a challenge, especially in today’s world where everyone has his or her own perspectives. While I appreciate diverse contributions, achieving consensus is not always straightforward. However, over the past two years, I’ve been fortunate to build an exceptional team of top-notch guides and professionals who truly distinguish Totally Texas Outdoors LLC from other outfitters in our industry. Our team exemplifies loyalty, honesty, fun, compassion, and generosity, enhancing every experience our clients and friends have with us whether they’re in Matagorda or Nocona.
I am also grateful to have my brother, Jeff Green, who owns the breathtaking Five J’s Ranch in Oneonta, Alabama. This beautiful property allows us to host clients for hunting trips or assist him with his own clientele. Five J’s is one of the most picturesque ranches in the country, and we take immense joy in sharing that incredible experience with our guests and friends.
Beyond the challenges of finding the right people and locations, making a profit in today’s economy is becoming increasingly difficult. The rising costs of commodities and everyday items are driving prices up across the board. As I mentioned earlier, our goal is to provide affordable experiences for families, companies, and individuals. However, navigating this objective can be tough given the current economic landscape. We remain dedicated to offering value while striving to make our outdoor adventures accessible to everyone.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a Christian-based organization, we take great pride in fostering a family-friendly environment where individuals of all ages can enjoy their time with us in the great outdoors. Our mission is to share the beauty of God’s creation while offering a welcoming space for everyone. We understand the challenges of everyday life and strive to provide a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere that allows our guests to escape the hustle and bustle. Our goal is for clients to come to us seeking an adventure and leave as friends, having created lasting memories together.
With our homeport based in Matagorda, Texas, we specialize in saltwater fishing along the stunning Texas coast. This charming small-town community is renowned for its friendly family atmosphere and exceptional fishing opportunities, particularly for large speckled trout, redfish, and a diverse range of other species, both inshore and offshore.
Over the past two years, one of our proudest achievements has been securing our hunting property in Nocona, Texas. We are thrilled to have partnered with Garret Combs and his family on their beautiful land located along the Texas-Oklahoma border. This collaboration allows us to offer our clients an incredible hunting experience in a picturesque setting.
At our Nocona property, we offer exceptional trophy whitetail deer hunting, fantastic duck hunting, and spring turkey hunting that will keep you coming back for more. We’ve also introduced thermal hog hunts, which have quickly gained popularity across the country.
Thanks to our partnership with Marty and Stacy Irwin, we are able to provide comfortable lodging and delicious meals right on Lake Nacona, in one of the most stunning homes in the area. This combination of thrilling outdoor experiences and top-notch accommodations ensures that your time with us is truly unforgettable.
What are your plans for the future?
We have an exciting five-year plan for our Nocona property. One of our goals is to build a second lodge to accommodate the growing demand for our duck hunting experiences during the fall season. Additionally, we aim to strengthen our partnership with Garret Combs and his family, allowing us to explore more hunting opportunities across various properties. This collaboration will help us provide our clients with a top-notch hunting experience that showcases all that North Texas has to offer.
We are incredibly grateful for the amazing team we have in Nocona, from our outstanding guides to our fantastic cook. Their hard work and dedication do not go unnoticed, and we cannot thank them enough for everything they contribute. As we continue to grow and our needs increase, we plan to expand our team further.
Additionally, we’re excited about the possibility of bringing back our podcast or radio show, “Coffee with Captain Dwayne Green.” This platform not only brought us joy but also connected us with new and fascinating individuals from across the country. We look forward to revitalizing this project and sharing more great conversations with our community.

- Whitetail Doe hunts $800 to $1,650
- Duck Hunts $650 per with lodging and Meals
- Spring Turkey hunts $1,500 with lodging and meals
- Thermal Hog Hunt $1,100 per night 2 person minimum as many hogs as you can harvest
