Today we’d like to introduce you to Carlos Lopez.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Well I got started how I’m pretty sure everyone else got started. I got my first camera around my senior year of high school and something in me just clicked. I’ve always loved movie and television and when I got my first little Fujifilm mirrorless camera it was like I could see into the future and the person who I would become. So ever since then I’ve been shooting pictures and filming my own YouTube videos. Documenting my photography journey but also my filmmaking journey as well. I made my first short film when I was 21 and it took me about 11 months to shoot. I’ve shot behind the scenes for short films from Austin and Houston. I recently just bought my new camera the fujifilm XH2S and that cost a pretty penny. Currently I’m in talks with juan from waj3 productions to see if I can get my idea for a short horror film off the ground.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly the road has been rough. I’m a very secluded individual and it’s kinda hard for me to get out there and make connections on my own. Usually when I film for my YouTube channel it’s just me and my camera, but that has given me some confidence and with that I’ve made some connections in both the photography world and film world. I would love to meet more people that are just like me and are willing to collaborate and make our ideas become a reality
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m not too well known I’m very hidden I guess you would say but I specialize in directing and bts photography. I’ve shot for short films like “David’s story” and “scattered brains”. Usually I direct my own stuff, I haven’t been given the chance to really prove myself in the field. But being a bts photographer and a Pa has given me a look and what behind the curtain of film and video and i learn each set I’m on.

Get on facebook and get into filmmaking groups in and around your area. That has helped me a lot with getting jobs in the industry
