Check Out Cequisha Proctor’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cequisha Proctor

Hi Cequisha , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I started coaching cheer in 2009 with the Southbelt Dolphins Youth Football Team. My then sister was on a team that was looking for a coach. I was asked to coach the upcoming season. I have been coaching ever since. I took a 2 yr break to become the BAFL(Bay Area Football League) Drill Director 2015-2017. After that, I opened my own cheer gym in 2017 located in Pasadena which was damaged during Hurricane Harvey, 2 yrs later I found a new home off of Beamer and Scarsdale. I started with 2 teams to currently having 4 teams. Show Team (3-6 yrs old), Novice Team (6-9 yrs old, Youth Prep Team (7-11 yrs old) and Jr Prep Team (9-16 yrs old). We have numerous awards from 1st-7th place. 2024 my 2 prep teams won the Grande Finale in Orlando Florida. We compete in the Houston/Galveston area.

My cheer experience is middle and high school.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
At first it was easy but the generation of parents have changed.

Parents are not as loyal. Most parents just want to win and don’t trust the process. It’s easier to join another team/gym that has a winning repetition rather allow their daughter to grow as a performer.

Majority of the girls that come to my gym, have little to no experience, once I get them to star quality they are ready to jump ship and join a bigger gym.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Currently working in Clear Creek ISD as a Assistant Teacher

Enrolled in school at WGU to receive my Bachelors of Arts in EC-6 education
