Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Unbehagen.
Hi Chris , thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Driftwood BBQ started in 2021 from a flatbed trailer with a smoker on it and quickly grew to a food truck. In February 2025 Luis Garza and Chris Unbehagen formed a partnership to open a brick and mortar restaurant.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In 2023 I went full time with the food truck. I had help from friends and family when we had bigger events. Both the food truck and the restaurant were started with very little money available to us. We have struggled to overcome the lack of funding but have been very blessed along the way.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
We try to operate with a genuine heart of giving at all times. Luis and I both believe that it is very important to make as much of a positive impact in our community as possible. We have done work with the local schools, local churches, and local ministries. At the end of every week we feed the community with the food that is leftover from the week. Spreading love to those around us is the driving force behind the business.
How do you think about happiness?
Family and friends.
