Check Out Christopher Estevez’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christopher Estevez.

Christopher Estevez

Hi Christopher, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally born & raised in San Diego, California. I started barbering about 9 years ago at age 24. It was a hobby at first, but soon fell in love with the craft. Worked in several shops in San Diego; the beginning years were the toughest being married at a young age and pursuing the Barber career seem crazy to my whole family. Worried that I would never make a living off of cutting hair, they definitely had their doubts, and we definitely did go trough many obstacles, from making no money to sleeping in our car for a while, but I kept going. I kept showing up, and slowly but steadily, I started to for a clientele enough that started to show progress; then kids came 2016 & 2018, then Pandemic hit 2020, and I made my way from California to Texas due to everything being shut down for a whole year. I brought my family with me, my wife, and two beautiful daughters. We came to Texas with 2 backpacks to our name; took a while for us to get settled in from Covid sick to freeze storm it felt like Texas was not the right move, but we kept on keeping on and stuck trough it. Eventually, I found a barbershop where I decided to start cutting hair again, transferring my license from Cali To Texas; I was ready to get back to the craft. I worked at the shop for about 4 months, then decided that the best move for me and my family was to do my own, so I opened up my own private suite. Didn’t know what I was getting into and having so many doubts since I hadn’t really built up a clientele just yet, but with the affirmation my family gave me, I moved forward. Didn’t know what to expect, but I knew I had to start putting myself into the barber community, so I opened up my Booksy app and gave it a go. To my surprise, I immediately started to get busy people booking left and right sooner than later, I build up a clientele. Been in my suite 2 years and now getting ready to expand next year. From having nothing to having my own private suite. The Barber Suite is not only a place for haircuts, but it’s family-friendly, kid-friendly and offers a professional environment and top-quality haircuts. The barber Suite only the beginning…

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Many struggles, but the ones I can remember like it was yesterday are… the beginning stages of my barbering career. I struggled with being homeless for a few months with my wife. From making 0-70 dollars a week, eventually, it got better once I got better at the craft. The other struggles was during pandemic left my hometown with 2 backpacks, got Covid right before my opening of The Barber Suite, ended in the hospital for a week, and not being able to go back to work for a whole month, but in the end, we persevered and are blessed beyond measure…

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
