Check Out Hosanna Rull’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hosanna Rull.

Hi Hosanna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
iRull Designs started almost by accident. In 2010, I was training at Main Boxing Gym when the promoter, Lou Savarese, learned I was a graphic designer and asked if I’d create a poster for his next show. That one project turned into many more, and before long, other promoters were seeking out my work. In 2016 I launched iRull Designs, LLC.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Early on, it wasn’t always easy being a woman in such a male-dominated space, but I kept my head down and let my work speak for itself. That was so long ago, nearly fifteen years, I don’t remember the last time I felt like I had to prove myself. I know I’ve earned my place in this community that I love so much. My photography and designs is my way of giving back and supporting the fighters and competitors.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At iRull Designs, I specialize in bringing art of combat sports to life through design and photography. From fight posters and fighter portraits to event websites and live-action photography, my business is the one-stop-shop for fight promotions. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of working with major platforms like PBC and Showtime, and seeing my work sought out by promotions across the country has been deeply rewarding. But one of my proudest moments was being named Photographer/Media of the Year at Houston’s First Combative Sports Awards. What truly sets me apart is my dedication to my craft. After nearly twenty-five years as a graphic /web designer, I still push myself to deliver 100% every single time. I go above and beyond for my clients because at the end of the day the fighters and competitors deserve fight posters they can be proud of and photographs that best capture their journey.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Becoming an entrepreneur is one of the bravest things you can do! One major advice I can give is find your niche! Once you discover what your calling is, commit to it fully. Work ethic is everything and never stop learning. Don’t let comparison discourage you or get you off focus. Over the years, I’ve also learned some lessons the hard way. I wish I had set stronger boundaries with clients early on, valued my time and creativity more, and learned to protect my life/work balance. And maybe most importantly, I’ve learned that not everyone is meant to be your client, and that’s okay. The right people will find you and will do whatever it takes to work with you.
