Today we’d like to introduce you to iiiYansaje T. Muse.
Hi iiiYansaje, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
222.9 The Mothership Internet Radio was destined in the heavens, literally. No wonder it is based in astrology! For starters, I played a radio personality in a stage play in 2004 before I became one in real life. My character’s name held a strong synchronicity to Oya, the Orisa (aspect of God through nature that represents winds of change) that I am a priestess to in the Ifa faith. Get it? Winds? Airwaves?
This revelation would come years later, as I was of the Christian faith only while in college. My radio journey began at KPVU-FM 91.3 in Prairie View, TX. Since then, my journey continued through brief tenures at 90.9 KTSU, 90.9 KPFT Pacifica, The Artist’s First Network, and other internet radio stations. I grew up on different types of music and always had a strong love for it. Meanwhile, many people were coming to me for advice. The plot thickens.
The spiritual counselor/psychic side of things came into play when I had the audacity to ask The Holy Divine why I was sent to earth. I spent 3 years as a spiritual counselor before fully converting to Orisa tradition. My time as a psychic advisor consisted of thousands of readings, and it allowed me to get a general feel for collective spiritual need. However, there was never enough time in a day to get to everyone. It was important to me for people to have something they can have access to feed their spirits 24/7, free of charge. SO, I combined the people’s need for spiritual wisdom and my love for music into the radio station that you hear today!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
(laughs) HECK NAW, it wasn’t a smooth road! Not by long shot! This road was filled with betrayals, detours, delays, exiles, lies, mind games, racism, sexism, attempted character assassinations, heartbreaks, disappointments, people trying to trap me in my past self, doubts, fears, ulterior motives, underestimation, gang stalking, failed witchcraft, imposters, tears, sweat, and blood! I’m talking full-on spiritual WAR…lions and tigers and bears, oh my! Many of these troubles forced me into the very solitude that was needed to build a whole radio station… alone with only Divine guidance.
On the other side of that balance, there were people who have been angels on my path, ever confirming that I was going the right way. Miracles came through strangers, and kindred spirits that we spiritual folks call “the soul tribe.” The obstacles dissolved me deeper into faith. I uncovered inner strength and power I had no idea I had, in ways I would have never imagined were possible. I embraced the struggle as fine print on the package of greatness. I kept in mind that no one works so hard to destroy something of no value. I began to see struggles as labor pains, and I had to push. I remembered that there are no shortcuts to things built to last. The struggles built my character, which is what the Ifa/Orisa tradition is all about. My victories over these struggles forged a woman in the mirror that I am happy to see, physically mentally, and spiritually. The obstacles built my character, and gave the heavens room to work it magic, baby!
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Oh boy…this is such a loaded question! In totality, I consider myself a divine renaissance woman. In breaking that down, I am a spiritual counselor specializing in astrology, tarot, numerology, crystals, herbalism, iChing, and down-home good advice.
I am a poet.
I am an author, 7 times published.
I am a visual artist.
I am a content creator.
I am a lightworker.
I am a radio personality,
I am a solopreneur.
I am a voice talent.
What I am most proud of is how I combined all of my talents into one 24/7 groove, 222.9 The Mothership Internet Radio! What sets me apart from others? Well, I think EVERYONE is set apart. I’ve been doing astrology charts for years and have yet to come up with two of the same design. If anything sets me apart, it is living in honest alignment with my unique divine design, loving it, and inspiring others to do the same. That can be tough in a world like ours…
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
Three. Fear Street novels by R.L. Stine, thinking I was Storm from the X-Men, and singing songs I was too young to really know anything about!
